Figure 1 TORC1 and ABA Receptor Signaling Crosstalk to Control the Switch between Growth and Stress Responses Under favorable conditions for plant growth, the TORC1 kinase (TOR, Raptor, and LST8) promotes growth and inhibits the stress response by phosphorylating the ABA receptor PYL and subsequently inhibiting SnRK2 via PP2C. Upon environmental stress such as cold temperature or drought, ABA binds PYL and sequesters PP2C, leading to SnRK2 activation and the stress response. Active SnRK2 then phosphorylates Raptor, which results in dissociation of TORC1 and inhibition of growth. Molecular Cell , 3-4DOI: ( /j.molcel ) Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Inc. Terms and Conditions
