TITLE I River Valley is a Title I school. This means that a certain percentage of our students are on Free and Reduced lunches. With Title I we are able to offer classes to those students that need the extra help. We are also able to receive Federal dollars to help support teachers and students. Since we are school wide, all students benefit from Title I. There will be a meeting on August 6 starting at 5:30 to discuss Title I.

Credits for Graduation
Students must have 22 credits to graduate. Students in the Honors Program must complete 24 credits, sign an honors contract and put in community service hours. Students must complete the program to be eligible to be valedictorian and will receive recognition for completing program. Students have the opportunity to get 6 credits per year.

Credits for Graduation
Students failing a class will need to do credit recovery online at a cost of $75. Credit recovery classes are offered throughout the school year and during the summer. This will include PE. Any student that is more than 1.5 credits behind may have to transfer to our online school, CRUHSD Academy, to get caught up on credits.

Eligibility/Drug Testing
Students will have eligibility checks if they are out for a sport, Speech and Debate, field trips and club events. Students cannot have an “F” and must have at least a 2.0 gpa. If this is not meet, then students can practice but not participate in a game for a week. If a student has a “F” on a permanent grade, the student cannot participate in competitions for 10% of the scheduled games. Students will be randomly drug tested during the sporting season. Also any students in clubs that compete will be tested.

PARTICIPATION FEE/TAX CREDIT
Students will be charged $100 per sport to participate. The money must be paid in full within five (5) weeks after the start of the sport. Tax credits can be used for paying participation fee. A $200 tax credit will allow one student to participate in all three sports seasons. A $400 tax credit will allow all members of a family to participate in all three sport seasons.

FLEX FRIDAYS Flex Fridays are once or twice a month. These days are for intervention and enrichment. Students that have a D or F in a class will be required to come to Flex Fridays for intervention. There will also be various enrichment programs every Flex Friday. Students that are assigned and do not show will receive a referral . Students must wear their school shirt and have their ID on Flex Friday.

21CCLC/After School Lab After school lab is Monday thru Thursday from 3:45 to 6:45. The after school bus runs at 5:30 but the lab is open until 6:45. The after school lab is for intervention for students to get extra help to complete class work. There is also enrichment classes to give students and community members an opportunity to experience other activities. Teachers will assign students that need extra help for a class or need to complete work. Students that are assigned and do not show will receive a referral.

SOAR to Excellence Successful Optimistic Accountable Respectful
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) sets expectations for staff and students. This system rewards student for proper behavior. Reduces classroom disruptions and office referrals.

Attendance Students are allowed a maximum of 8 days per semester. If a student exceeds this amount, he/she may lose credit for the class or classes. The school must be contacted if the student is going to be absent. Students going to doctor/dentist/legal appoints must bring a note from the doctor in order not to count towards 8 day absences. These notes can be turned in up to 48 hours after the student has returned to school. Notes will not be excepted after 48 hours.

Late to Class If a student is late to class, he/she gets the first one free. Students get one parent excused tardy each semester to first period. Starting with the second referral, students will start to receive referrals. If a student is late six times to a class, he/she may lose credit for that class.

School Apparel School approved shirt must be worn every day.
Outerwear must be school colors. The colors are red, gray, white or black only. Hoods are not allowed to be worn inside school buildings for security purposes. Outerwear cannot have any logos larger than their ID. Shorts must have at least a 6 inch inseam. Skirts must be within 4 inches of the top of the knee. If there are holes in pants/shorts, the starting point of the holes must be at least 6 inches down the inseam. Spandex/Yoga (excessively form fitting) type pants are not allowed unless covered by approved skirt or shorts. Students must have their ID anytime they are on campus. Students attending After School Lab must wear shirt and have ID.

Parent Vue Online program so parents can view their students grades, attendance, discipline, fees, classwork, and downloads of assignments. If you did not sign up at registration, please see a staff member to get started. Teachers are to update grades at least once a week. Report cards are not sent home but are online. If you need a copy of anything, please contact the school.

Breakfast/Lunch Breakfast and lunch are available every day the school is open. Chartwell provides breakfast and lunch for students. A calendar will be put out monthly on our web site of what is being served. Snack bar serves various items. Parents may drop off food for students but no delivery by outside food companies and students may not leave school to get lunch.

CELL PHONES Students are not allow to have their phone or any electronic device out during class time. Students can have their phones with them unless they become a problem and then they must turn it into the teacher. If a teacher needs to have students use their cell phone during class time, then the teacher will have this as part of their lesson plan. Students can freely use their cell phones between periods and at lunch. The school is not responsible for any lost or stolen electronics.

After School Detention (ASD)
For students that receive a discipline referral, they may be assigned ASD. ASD will be served on Flex Fridays. For the first referral they will be required to attend Session 1, on the second referral Sessions 1 and 2, and on the third referral Sessions 1, 2 and 3. After the third referral students will start receiving OSS. There will be ASD one or two times during month on Wednesday after school. This will be from 3:50 until 5:20. Students must bring work to do. No electronics in ASD. No show to ASD will result in OSS up to 2 days. There is NO In-School Suspension during the day. ASD cannot be missed for athletic practice or games.

WEB SITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA
The school web site is: The web page will be updated on a regular basis. You will be able to staff from the site. Follow us on Facebook at River Valley High School (look for the DustDevil logo). The administration can be followed on Twitter with posts daily. Mr.

Miscellaneous Game cost for students will be posted at a later time once the school board approves the price. Student handbook is available online at the school web site. A weekly dialer goes home every Sunday at 2:00 pm. The message contains information of what is happening at school for the next week. An is also sent out on Sundays with information. Open house is August 6 from 5:30 to 7:00.

Miscellaneous Textbooks will be checked out to students as needed. Students are responsible for books and must pay for damage or not returned. Parents can come and visit students classroom at any time, just check in at front office. ID cost $3. Student must buy new ID if it is modified at all (chewed, cut). Renaissance is for students with a 3.0 or higher gpa per semester. Students get out early for lunch once a week and other privileges.
