7 Course Introduction Goal: To promote and develop the Regional Disaster Response Team’s skills, capacity and role in Water and Sanitation Emergency Response thereby effectively and efficiently assisting the most vulnerable

8 Objectives To enhance the Federation’s emergency response capacity in Asia Pacific in the Water and Sanitation sector; To train RDRT participants from Asia Pacific and increase their technical skills and knowledge in Water and Sanitation; To enhance RDRTs knowledge on global water and sanitation response tools; To train participants to work as a Red Cross team To harmonize cooperation and coordination skills with global response tools and other Movement components and external partners

10 Course Norms Respect to diversity of opinions and maintain confidentiality Equal status – Titles does not apply Dynamic Participation and Acceptance of Leadership Role Commence and Conclude Promptly Speak Clearly and with Clarity Program as a Guide Questions from the participants is highly expected High Tolerance for Ambiguity Laptops/internet/mobile phone We come from the different NSs, with individual uniqueness. We expect open-minded and opinionated discussions on issues, as such, we expect unending disagreements. Professionals as are, we need to respect each participants objective and subjective views. Confidentiality is a must to sensitive views and issues discussed during the training. Destructive remarks and We shall manage the participants evenly. To create a good avenue for general discussions, we expect that your authority or seniority status should not be a barrier for others to participate in the discussions. We will start and end the training on time daily, hopefully. A task group shall be assigned to manage the time. We need to recognize participants who have limitation in speaking English language. Participants who are articulate, need not only speak clearly and with clarity, but should also extend an extra mile in helping their group members at least to understand the language and explain the issues discussed. The training schedules and activities will serve as participants guideline to prepare you in participating during the training. It is expected that participants need to have clear understanding of the topics discussed after the induction, everyone is encouraged to ask questions if the topics being discussed is not clear to them or needs elaboration. Participants are expected to be patient to indistinct explanation or delivery of topics\participants points. Remember PATIENCE is a virtue.
