1 WHAT ARE THE HARMFUL EFFECT CAUSED BY CUTTING OF TREES
WHAT ARE THE HARMFUL EFFECT CAUSED BY CUTTING OF TREES? WHY WE SHOULD NOT CUT TREES? IMPORTANCE OF PLANTING TREES

2 WHAT ARE THE HARMFUL EFFECT CAUSED BY CUTTING OF TREES?
Large scale tree cutting can lead to deforestation, a transformation of an area from forest to terrain with little vegetation. Plants create oxygen and absorb greenhouse gases. The destruction of trees may, therefore, encourage global warming.

3 WHY WE SHOULD NOT CUT TREES
Cutting down trees takes away that oxygen. When we cut down trees, we are taking a home away from animals.  We loosen the ground which mostly causes landslides.  Trees cause shade and without that shade the ground dries up faster and there is not as much nutrients

4 IMPORTANCE OF PLANTING TREES

5 IMPORTANCE OF PLANTING TREES
Trees give off oxygen that we need to breathe.  Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding. Many species of wildlife depend on trees for habitat.  Trees provide food, protection, and homes for many birds and mammals.

6 TREES PROVIDE OXYGEN In one year an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people.

7 TREES CLEAN THE AIR Trees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark.

8 PLANTS WHICH GIVE OUT OXYGEN EVEN AT NIGHT

9 PLANTS WHICH GIVE OUT OXYGEN EVEN AT NIGHT

10 TREES PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTERS

11 TREES PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTERS
These animals are born in trees, live in trees, raise their young in trees and seldom come down to the ground. Trees provide them shelter from the weather and from enemies. Trees provide food in the form of fruits, nuts, leaves, bark, and roots. Even dead trees provide shelter and food for many insects.

12 TREES HEAL Studies have shown that patients with views of trees out their windows heal faster and with less complications. Children with ADHD show fewer symptoms when they have access to nature. Exposure to trees and nature aids concentration by reducing mental fatigue.

13 TREES SAVE WATER Shade from trees slows water evaporation from thirsty lawns. Most newly planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture.

14 TREES COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
Excess carbon dioxide (CO2) is building up in our atmosphere, contributing to climate change. Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the same amount of CO2 produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles

15 TREES ARE TEACHERS AND PLAYMATES
Whether as houses for children or creative and spiritual inspiration for adults, trees have provided the space for human retreat throughout the ages.

16 TREES HELP PREVENT WATER POLLUTION
Trees reduce runoff by breaking rainfall thus allowing the water to flow down the trunk and into the earth below the tree. This prevents storm water from carrying pollutants to the ocean. When mulched, trees act like a sponge that filters this water naturally and uses it to recharge groundwater supplies.

17 TREES CONSERVE ENERGY Trees help reduce your heating and cooling costs. Three trees placed strategically around a single-family home can cut summer air conditioning needs by up to 50 percent. By reducing the energy demand for cooling our houses, we reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions from power plants.

18 TREES BLOCK THINGS Trees can mask concrete walls or parking lots, and unsightly views. They muffle sound from nearby streets and freeways, and create an eye-soothing canopy of green. Trees absorb dust and wind and reduce glare.

19 TREES PROVIDE WOOD In suburban and rural areas, trees can be selectively harvested for fuel and craft wood.

20 TREES SHIELD CHILDREN FROM ULTRA-VIOLET RAYS
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the country . Trees reduce UV-B exposure by about 50 percent, thus providing protection to children on school campuses and playgrounds - where children spend hours outdoors.
