SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS
1. Impact on surrounding land: Low visual impact on Redwood Gardens, Woodland Industrial Estate and Green Wedge North. Higher visual impact on Braeside Park, Dingley Village and Waterway Residential Estate. Design Recommendations: Dingley Village Articulate rear of noise walls. Plant the length of these walls on the residential interface. Braeside Park Screen the park to remove view of cars moving on the freeway. Fauna walls at 3m would be sufficient to achieve this condition. Waterways Residential Estate Careful attention to design of bridge crossing is required. Keep planting tall and generous along embankment wall. 2. Experience of road use Freeway design and proposed walls offer extensive opportunities for visual connection with the variety of “landscapes” in Kingston’s section of the Bypass. A wall on Braeside park side of the freeway does not erode this experience. 3. Pedestrians and cyclist connectivity An underpass connection Chadwick Reserve and Redwood Gardens is recommended. A shared user path to Aspendale Gardens on Mordialloc Creek via a boardwalk is also recommended. 4. Changes to EPR’s Reference to ‘urban design’ as well as landscape plans is recommended.
