Stakeholder & Public Affairs Manager
Job summary: This role is responsible for implementing stakeholder engagement & communication strategies to support the delivery of the business’s development pipeline and property asset management objectives. This role will focus on the regional property portfolio, including 17 retail & leisure assets as well as a substantial rural portfolio. The role holder will manage external agency resources, as well as working in collaboration with teams across the business to deliver against business objectives. This role will also work with the Head of Public Affairs & Community to support the implementation of the corporate public affairs strategy, and shape The Crown Estate’s reputation as a leading commercial property business that delivers value beyond financial return across a variety of political and stakeholder audiences. Essential functions of the Job: Develop and implement stakeholder engagement & communication strategies to support the delivery of the development pipeline and property asset management objectives, focused mainly on the regional portfolio. Understand the corporate strategy and core sectors in which the business operates to identify stakeholder engagement opportunities and risks to reputation. Promote the business’s community & sustainability work with external stakeholders. Work closely with the colleagues from across the Corporate Affairs and Operations teams to identify opportunities for engagement & ensure a coordinated and a consistent approach to shaping our reputation through multi- channel campaign delivery Manage external agencies and associated budgets, ensuring high performance inline with project briefs & contracts Build relationships with key external stakeholders to support the business’s objectives Provide regularly update on stakeholder activity and the political landscape to colleagues through meetings, reports and presentations. Research and prepare briefings to support colleagues ahead of stakeholder meetings Build relationships with senior colleagues and offer strategic counsel on the external landscape to support decision making Input into and support the delivery of the corporate stakeholder & public affairs strategy, including preparing for select committees and stakeholder meetings, drafting consultation responses and policy positions. Use effective political monitoring to identify opportunities for engagement based on key issues and business objectives Help shape The Crown Estate’s reputation as a leading commercial property business that delivers value beyond financial return across a variety of political and stakeholder audiences. Experience required: Proven experience in the following areas; Established experience in a communication, engagement or political environment Experience working as part of development project teams Experience managing external agency accounts Good knowledge of local government, decision making & planning process Good knowledge of political landscape & communications best practice Proven experience in the following additional areas is desired: Previous experience working in a planning/development environment Knowledge of development cycle & project management Business Area : -Operations Department: -Corporate Affairs Job level: - L4 Responsible to: - Head of Public Affairs & Community Contract type : - Permanent Budget Accountability: - £300K People Responsibility: - No direct, 5 indirect agency team Skills required: Ability to communicate and influence providing strategic advice to senior leaders. Ability to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders. Ability to take ownership of projects and work collaboratively in a fast paced project environment
