Wellness Champion Mission Statement
Mission: Psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being are critical for a competent, caring, and resilient health care professional. Saint Louis University School of Medicine will foster a culture of well-being and self-care through its Wellness Champion Program. Vision: The Wellness Champion Program will facilitate wellness activities in Graduate Medical and Graduate Research Education through the personal and collaborative activities of the Wellness Champions and will support the development of wellness initiatives within programs at the School of Medicine.

Training: Physical Fitness & Strengthening
Exercise is effective in reducing symptoms of mild to moderate depression (Barbour et al 2007) Aerobic exercise improves anxiety in both the general population, and those with anxiety disorders Exercise helps protect against chronic stress (dampened HPA axis, less hippocampal damage, increased neurogenesis)

How can I use exercise to increase resilience?
“stress inoculation” = continuous pushing healthy limits of strength and endurance. Finding the balance between maintenance stress and excessive stress set goals do it with a friend/colleague to encourage each other

Brain Fitness: Challenge Your Mind & Heart
Cognitive training Learning something new, such as an instrument New games. Do a Game Night! Emotional training Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy In Extremis Leadership: Leading As If Your Life Depended on It Col.
