OBJECTIVES 1) To unify language of communication among Physicians, Dentists and Nurses. 2) To study and read Medical Literature with— Out difficulty .

LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1) Define and recognize the basic Word Roots, Prefixes and Suffixes. 2) Recognize and Define Terms relating to various body systems. 3) Describe the Human body Orientation and – body views. 4)Describe disease states, Medical Procedures, Instruments and various medical specialties.

DENTAL TERMINOLOGY This Medical discipline will be given by professionals in the Faculty of Dentistry. You will learn to assign a term to various Tooth structures and its surrounding tissues.

STEPS IN LEARNING MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY
1)Use “Key Word” Association method. e.g. DORSAL MEANS BACK . HOW TO REMEMBER THE MEANING : The term dorsal is pronounced in a way similar to the word “DOOR”. When we leave a room we usually do so with our back to the door.

2) Learn the Word Roots well, because most Terms come form Greek or Latin. ROOTS help determine what they are referring to.

LEARNING STEPS ALSO , UNDERSTAND PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES.
PREFIXES COME AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TERM , SUFFIXES COME AT THE END. Each of them have a function.
