What is the world’s smartest animal? Mundungus – Very old word for smelling like garbage or dung. Often used to refer to bad smelling tobacco. Goals – Discuss how to pick it up again. Discussion of chapter questions? Homework – Complete reading the “Continuation.” Begin study of Week 20 vocabulary words. A snake. Nobody can pull his leg.

2 Senior English 2/21/18 What parts of the book might be relevant to the Freudian Lens? What events might indicate the battle between the Id and the Superego? How did Thomas Edison invent the lightbulb? Pox and piles – curse from the middle ages. Goals – Take notes on the Marxist lens. Discuss events in Frankenstein that might provide material for analysis. Homework – Catch up on reading and questions. He had a bright idea.

3 Senior English 2/22/18 What was the most interesting scene or quote from the novel for you? Describe it using sensory detail or explain why it is interesting. Does it relate to one of the lenses? How does a spoiled boy change the oil in his car? Riggafrutch – means nothing but sounds nasty. Goals – Complete discussion of Marxist lens. Annotate information about the archetypal lens. Homework – Complete reading the book and doing all the indicated questions. He says: Dad, I want a new car.

What do you call Santa’s Helpers? Amplexus – The rutting of frogs and toads. Should be used instead of a profanity. Goals – Complete vocabulary 20. Complete notes on archetypes. Homework – Complete questions for the end of the book. NOT all of them! Just the ones with arrows.  Subordinate clauses.

Goals – Review “attitudes” sheet then discuss your paper ideas in a small group. Review assignment and rubric then take notes on Marxist critical lens.
