3. 3 Chaplains like Samuel Stone (1602-1663) conducted worship, led prayers, and offered pastoral care to the sick and wounded. From the beginning of the Guards nearly 400 year history there have been clergy Guardsmen. Today hundreds of Army and Air National Guard chaplains and chaplain assistants continue to provide spiritual strength for our Soldiers, Airmen, and their families.
