1 US may be at breaking point along southern border

2 According to government officials, the United States faces a major humanitarian crisis with its southwestern border as tens of thousands of mostly Central Americans increasingly try to enter the country. More than 76,000 migrants crossed the border without authorization in February, nearly double the number from the same period in A surge of migrants along the US-Mexico border has led leaders in the US Customs and Border Protection to say, "The system is well beyond capacity and remains at the breaking point." Families and unaccompanied children make up more than 60% of apprehensions along the Southwest border. They're predominantly from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Previously, mostly single males from Mexico crossed illegally into the US, and they were quickly returned to Mexico. Because most crossing now are family members from the Northern Triangle countries, the US does not have the infrastructure to accommodate the influx. New immigration restrictions in parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas do not appear to be working, and with border patrol offices understaffed and unprepared to deal with the massive influx, the problem does not look like as though it will improve any time soon. The CBP announced major changes to procedures for guaranteeing proper medical care for migrants in in their custody. Efforts include hiring more healthcare practitioners and increased translation services. “These solutions are temporary and this situation is not sustainable," The CBP said. "This is clearly both a border security and a humanitarian crisis."

3 In Other News In his first TV interview since he was charged with sexual abuse last month, a tearful R. Kelly says he is "fighting" for his life. In a teaser for an interview that will air in full over two days starting Wednesday on "CBS This Morning," Kelly says allegations he slept with underage girls are not true and a product of "people," whom he did not identify specifically in the released clip, "going back to my past.” Kelly was indicted last month on 10 counts of sexual abuse involving four alleged victims. The indictment accuses Kelly of sexual acts with three children older than 13 but younger than 17. There is no age range listed for one of the alleged victims. The charges say Kelly used force or the threat of force. King Kong Bundy, one of the most prominent WWE wrestling stars of the 1980s and 90s, has died at the age of 61, the WWE confirmed Tuesday. The wrestling legend, whose real name was Christopher Alan Pallies, took on Hulk Hogan in the iconic steel cage match at WrestleMania 2 in At 6-foot-4-inches tall and weighing 458 pounds, he was aptly titled King Kong. Radio stations in New Zealand and Canada have dropped Michael Jackson from their playlists, following new accusations of abuse by the late pop star in the documentary "Leaving Neverland.” In the two-part film, which began airing on HBO on Sunday, Wade Robson and James Safechuck accuse the singer of sexually abusing them over a period of several years when they were children. Jackson's estate has pushed back against the film, calling it a "public lynching," and is suing HBO.
