8 Why did I volunteer to become an EA?
From a personal perspective the EA role has given me exposure and personal development in an area that I am interested in – resourcing and talent management.  Involvement whilst potential employees are still at school isn’t something that I have done before. From an employment perspective – manufacturing, logistics and engineering all have skills shortages or are not seen as valid, exciting career choices for younger people.  Through this role, I have the opportunity to influence and challenge the number and breadth of opportunities available to young people. Businesses rely on their local labour market for skills – gaining a greater insight into the link between education and employment means that I have the opportunity to do my day job more effectively.  From an Employers perspective, this type of activity fits well with our corporate social responsibility agenda and enhances our brand and reputation within our local community. As a working mum, time is of a premium, and this role has allowed me to combine my work with my aspiration to do something within my local community. At one point, I was seriously considering teaching when I was bored of HR.  The EA role has taught me that I would be a rubbish teacher and therefore if I want a career change, I should look somewhere else!!  Priority 5: Raise the visibility of and access to career insights and specialist careers support for young people and adults to raise aspirations, participation, retention and achievement in learning and work

9 What have been the Challenges?
The enterprise adviser has little support from CEC – although CIPD have been more communicative regarding the role. Regular time to meet Engaging other EA to support in the development of a bank of useful employers because of the lack of network opportunities for the EA

10 Future developments Develop employer engagement through use of our vision #Blogs4jobs – raising aspiration and knowledge of career opportunities. Enterprise advisor offering Staff CPD Warburton's Mentoring for students. Increased careers support at parent events.
