BASIS OF PETER’S FAITH Jesus, who was approved by his mighty works among them, had been crucified and raised up according to God’s plan.

BASIS OF PETER’S FAITH The “(birth) pangs of death” could not restrain Jesus the Messiah, as David in the Psalms (16:8-11) had prophesied. Remember: It is generally agreed that when David wrote prophetically, he wrote in the first person.

BASIS OF PETER’S FAITH David knew that his descendant would be the Messiah (Psalm 110:1). This Messiah is Jesus. Psalm 110:1 says, “The Lord says to my Lord: ’Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’”

BASIS OF PETER’S FAITH We are witnesses to this fact through his resurrection. All that you now see and hear flows from Him through the Holy Spirit. God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.

PETER’S USE OF THE O.T. All Scripture bears witness to Christ—especially His death, resurrection, and world-wide mission The disciples came to see OT references to “God’s anointed” or “king” or David’s “royal seed” as finding their fulfilment in Jesus. It is generally agreed that when David wrote prophetically, he wrote in the first person.
