AgGateway: What it is A non-profit, collaborative membership association Focused on helping producers, retailers and their supply chain partners improve productivity, profitability and sustainability. AgGateway activities help companies reduce the cost and frustration of managing and exchanging complex data. Broad representation across ag segments First, what is AgGateway? We’re a non-profit, member-driven, collaborative organization. We’re focused on helping members increase productivity and profitability throughout the supply chain. In particular, our members are working on ways to enable efficient data transfer and management, to help reduce the cost and frustration of managing complex data in today’s industry. One of the reasons we’re successful is that you’ll find a broad representation of ag segments and functions all sitting at the table together to hammer out these issues. Non-profit funded by: Member dues Subscriptions Activity fees

AgGateway’s Mission To promote and enable the industry's transition to digital agriculture, and expand the use of information to maximize efficiency and productivity. Our mission is simply stated but it’s a big one: To achieve this mission, we work together in collaborative efforts, with many teams, and many activities. This is a huge mission – and how we tackle it depends on you and every other member of AgGateway – because the members drive the priorities, determining which projects to work on, and the execution of those projects.
6
Focus on implementation
1st step: Developing and adopting industry standards, guidelines and other means to enable eBusiness Critical next step: Implementation AgGateway is Focused on Implementation – Making eBusiness a Reality in the Ag Industry! And one more important, distinctive point about AgGateway: we focus on implementation. Our members develop and adopt industry standards so that companies can connect. But then – importantly – they have committed to taking that critical next step, implementing those changes and making connections with their trading partners.
7
The “Foundation” to e-Business
Unique Identifiers are the basic building blocks to enable e-Business This is a transition slide in to the Value of Unique Identifiers section.
8
The Value of Identification
Improves product position and visibility Enables company to identify, capture, and share information about products, business locations, and more Trading Partners use same identifiers for products and entities to ensure accuracy of delivery, billing and other E-business transactions Aides and enables the automation of business processes Reduces cost as standard schemes are implemented Mitigates risk of incorrect or erred compliance reporting Increases efficiency of field operations This slide reiterates the value companies receive when using unique identifiers.
9
GS1: What it is International Standards Organization Formerly UCC and EAN Originated the UPC code Focused on Supply Chain The GS1 Company prefix is a unique number assigned to a company for the purpose of creating Identification Keys. Identification Keys are unique numbers that identify items, services, locations, logistic units, containers etc. The purpose of this slide is to introduce GS1 to the audience and briefly describe the relationship AgGateway and GS1 have. GS1 Standards allow companies to identify, capture, and share information across their supply chains. I will let the audience know we will be discussing the prefixes in more detail coming up.
10
GS1 COMPANY PREFIX “The Foundation”
Used to create globally-unique identification numbers for: Locations (GLN) Products (GTIN) The foundation for the GTIN and GLN is a GS1 Company Prefix. Prefixes can be variable lengths
11
Unique Identifiers…. GLN – Global Location Number
Used to identify entities (Businesses, Consumers, Locations) All active entity records in AGIIS have a GLN identifier. GTIN – Global Trade Item Number Used to identify products at the lowest salable unit Assigned by product owner and displayed in AGIIS I want to quickly introduce the identifiers AgGateway supports. Will explain entities cover businesses, consumers and locations. Other industries are using GTIN in conjunction with GS1-128 barcodes, agriculture may look at this in the future.
12
What is being Identified?
Who/Where? (GLN) Manufactured a Product or Supplied a Service Sold a Product/Service Purchased a Product/Service Field identification Applied/Planted Product Received a Service (spray application or grid sampling) Shipped a Product What? (GTIN) Product identified by a GTIN number The purpose of the slide is to demonstrate to the audience how identifiers are used in business transactions.
13
AgGateway Uses of Unique Identifiers
Supply Chain Precision Ag Regulatory Compliance Traceability Sales Reporting Ship Notice Delivery Confirmation Inventory Recommendations Work orders Machine Reference Data Fixed Equipment Identification Stewardship and Compliance Reporting Product Movement All of the above Will emphasize these are the ways AgGateway Members use the unique identifiers.
14
“AGIIS” – The Industry Solution
Will explain AGIIS and how it helps companies facilitate eBusiness
15
Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS)
AGIIS is an interactive database that houses eBusiness data for agriculture. AGIIS provides the unique identifiers and common data elements that allow companies to “sync” and set the stage for eBusiness transactions. AGIIS does not process transactions; it is a directory resource that facilitates electronic communication. One of the most important AgGateway resources is AGIIS. AGIIS is an interactive database that houses ag eBusiness data for industry subscribers. Companies use the database to look up unique identifiers and common data elements (such as GTINs and GLNs) that they can then insert into their transactions — either internal or with trading partners — to make electronic communication possible. For example, they can look up the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), which is the numerical code representing a specific brand and packaging of a given product (e.g., seed, crop protection chemicals, fertilizer, etc.), or the Global Location Number, which is the unique identifier for the name and address of an organization, individual or location. Because trading partners are able to access and use the same identifiers, the pieces of information fit together, and electronic communication is possible. AGIIS does not process transactions; it is a directory resource that facilitates electronic communication.

In this section we will begin discuss the identifiers that are supported within AGIIS, How the system operates and how subscribers use the system. How does it work?
21
Who can access the data? AGIIS Full Subscriber Search View
Non Subscriber Full View provides a Subscriber access to robust search criteria and all data elements and demographics associated with entity and product data. Search View could include AgGatway non-members purchasing a search view subscription as well as all AgGateway Members are provided a subscription to AGIIS as a Member benefit. Non Subscribers can access AGIIS through the Non-subscriber portal which has limited access just to view the identifiers and basic demographic information.
22
AGIIS the Solution Software and Business Logic Communication
Accessibility Software and Business Logic – is at the core of the solution. I will discuss business rules and address standardization software is used. Communication – notifications, extracts Accessibility – web services, website, bulk processes
23
Entities in AGIIS Business Consumer Location
Will explain the different type of entities in AGIIS. Location
24
Entity Basics Definition – An Entity is a separate and distinct Individual, Business or Location for which one or more unique industry identifiers have been assigned. Entity records are added and maintained by the AGIIS user community On the AGIIS website Web Services Bulk file processes All AGIIS Subscribers have access to view all entity records in the AGIIS directory using the AGIIS website or web services This slide introduces Entity portion of AGIIS and let’s the audience know AGIIS is a subscriber driven database which means it is maintained and updated by the subscriber community. It is important as a subscriber of AGIIS that data quality and accuracy is considered before adding and updating the database.
25
Business Entity Data - Key Elements
Global Location Number Company Name Doing Business as Name Physical Address Mailing Address Phone Number Latitude/Longitude Entity Classification Business Status Verification Status
26
Entity Subsets An entity subset is established by a subscriber linking their internal identifier or prop code to an AGIIS entity record’s GLN identifier Creating an entity subset indicates that you have an interest in specific entity records and identifiers You can only update a record if is in your subset AGIIS Subscribers (excluding subscribers with only search/view privileges) can include any entity record in their subset.
27
