Two (2) new magnets are created
Monday April 1st 2019 Review Question #2 Name all three (3) ways you can increase the strength of a magnet Review Question #1 What happens to a magnet if you split it in half? Stronger battery/Increase the voltage Stronger magnet in core Add more coils Two (2) new magnets are created

Monday April 1st 2019 Learning Goal:
Students will show mastery knowledge of magnets & electromagnets. Success Criteria: I can explain how magnet works (i.e., poles, etc.) I can demonstrate that the number of wire coils affects the strength of an electromagnet. I can explain how electric current does not affect the magnetic field.

Tuesday April 2nd 2019 Space probe Telescope Spectroscope Satellite
Which space technology would be used in the following scenarios. NASA wants to study Titan, a moon of Saturn & the 2nd largest in the solar system! The Astronomy class at Siegel High School is having a star gazing party to see the upcoming Perseid meteor showers. Scientists in Australia have recently discovered a newly formed star in the Canes Venatici constellation. How will identify the gases that compose this star? On Thursday, there’s a 70% chance of rain in the forecast. What tech did meteorologists use to predict this precipitation? Space probe Telescope Spectroscope Satellite

Tuesday April 2nd 2019 Learning Goal:
Students will show mastery knowledge of the types of technology used to study space. Success Criteria: I can describe what data scientists receive from four different types of space technology. I can choose the correct space tech to be used in different scenarios.

Space Tech Assignment Take a sheet of computer paper and fold it in half. Cut the sheet in half. Using the half sheet, fold the paper into four equal halves (or quandrants). Each Quandrant should contain: Title of the technology How does it work? What is this technology used for? What is a scenario where it's used? Satellite Space probe Spectroscope Telescope

Molecules Atoms Sub-atomic Particles
Wednesday April 3rd 2019 Answer the following questions about the Universe & Stars What came first immediately following the Big Bang? If a celestial body, such as a star, is far away & moving towards Earth…it will appear ______________ through a telescope. The increasing sound of a police siren…and then the decreasing of the sound as it moves away from you is a phenomena known as _____________________. The sun in our Solar system is considered a “yellow” star. These means it is a ______________________ star. Think temperature! Molecules Atoms Sub-atomic Particles blue Doppler effect medium

Wednesday April 3rd 2019 Learning Goal:
Students will show mastery understanding of the data scientists use to help prove the Big Bang Theory. Success Criteria: I can explain the difference between red shift & blue shift. I can interpret data from a Hertsprung-Russell Diagram. I can explain what happens during a Doppler effect.

Push or pull an object w/out touching it;
Review! What space tech uses prisms to refract light from celestial bodies far away & helps scientists determine the chemical composition (i.e., elements) of the celestial body? If a celestial body, such as a star, is far away & moving away from Earth…it will appear ______________ through a telescope. What are non-contact forces? Which of the two electromagnets to the right would pick up the most paperclips? Thursday April 4th 2019 C O R E T spectroscope red Push or pull an object w/out touching it;

Thursday April 4th 2019 Learning Goal:
Standard 8.PS2.3: Create a demonstration of an object in motion that describes the position, force, and direction of the object. Success Criteria: I can explain what vectors are and provide two examples. I can analyze graphical data to understand motion of one or more objects. I can predict the motion of objects using graphs. Learning Goal: Students will show mastery understanding of the vectors.

Magnitude (speed/velocity) Friday Dad Joke: What do house’s wear
Friday April 5th 2019 Direction Velocity is just speed but with _____________. Name all three (3) ways an object can accelerate. What two things must be included for something to be a vector? Change in speed Change in direction Both! Magnitude (speed/velocity) Direction Friday Dad Joke: What do house’s wear “ADDRESS”

Friday April 5th 2019 Learning Goal:
Standard 8.PS2.3: Create a demonstration of an object in motion that describes the position, force, and direction of the object. Success Criteria: I can explain how speed & velocity are different. I can explain when an object is accelerating. I can predict the motion of objects using graphs. Learning Goal: Students will show mastery understanding of the vectors.
