Release Approach FG NGN Standards IMS Beyond IMS
IMS has release based approach (already start Release 7) FG NGN also agreed to get similar approach like “Release” IMS (Release 6 based) would be incorporated into NGN Release NGN - Convergence Model FG NGN Standards Video Services (TV, movie, etc) Recommendations & Technical Reports Data Services (WWW, , etc) Telephone Services Rec. Y.NGN-FRM Services Rec. Y.NGN-MOB Rec. Y.NGN-CMIP TR. e2e.qos.1 API TR. atmipa TR. 123.qos Transport TR. Release Approach Criteria for set up Releases in FG NGN
Target dates : Realization of NGN Services and Capabilities (include Network and Control Capability) Architecture, components and Specifications (?) End of 2006 I/F 2 End of 2005 I/F 1 NGN Release 1 NGN Release 2 Services & Capabilities : S&C 1 Functional Arc. & Spec. : FA&S 1 IW and Interconnection : IAI 1 Migration : MIG 1 NGN Release 3 S&C 2 = S&C 1+ A2 FA&S 2 = FA&S 1 + B2 IAI 2 = IAI 1 + C2 MIG 2 = MIG 1 + D2 FPS Based (?)

Release Approach Problem Status of current plan for NGN (?) (?) (?)
Role and position of IMS (Release 6) in NGN is not yet clear But Release 1 mostly developed based on Release 1/TISPAN (IMS) Concerns from non-Europe : NGN mainly for Mobile(?) and Europeans (?) Views and Opinions from CJK : having further requirements (?) NGN Release 1 NGN Release 2 NGN Release 3 (?) NGN Release 1 (?) NGN Release 2 NGN Release 3 I/F 1 I/F 2 (?) (?) IMS (Rel.6) Beyond IMS (Rel.7 ?)

Status and Review of Release 1
FG NGN Release 1 Interface Simultaneous use of multiple access networks by a single terminal No requirement to co-ordinate the communication Network Core Network Based on the IMS Release 6 Access Network Wireline : xDSL, xPON, others (LAN) Wireless : WLAN, PS domain (3GPP/2), Broadcast Net. (3GPP Internet Broadcast/Multicast, DVB, ISDB-T), others Customer Net. Potentially support multiple terminals Support configuration of customer networks include multiple terminals Net. Capability Mobility, Identification, Authentication, Authorization, Location, Presence, Messaging, Push Service Session controller based Real-time Conversational Voice services Point to Point interactive multimedia services Collaborative interactive communication services Push to talk over NGN (PoN), Virtual Private Network (VPN) services Content delivery services, Sensor Network services Presence and general notification services, Instant messaging (IM) Existing PSTN/ISDN services Session Controller-based Internet services and access services to Internet Service Providers Hosted and transit services for enterprises (IP Centrex, etc.) Over-the-Network Device Management Group Messaging – Instant messaging and deferred messaging

Status and Review of Release 1
FG NGN Release 1 Services Non Session controller based Data communication services Data retrieval applications Push services Information services, such as cinema ticket information, motorway traffic status, advanced push services, etc. Online applications Speech-enabled services Remote control/tele-action services Messaging services such as SMS, MMS, etc Broadcast/Multicast Services Mobility limited to the ability of a terminal to be moved to different access points support nomadism Not require to support hand-over of communications sessions between access networks No requirement to prevent continuous terminal mobility within an access network Interconection PSTN/ISDN, IMS, Cable Network, Broadcast Network

Proposal Release 1 mainly leaded by European requirements
Concern about FG NGN Releases Release 1 mainly leaded by European requirements Input for the Release 1 could be closed at November Need check gaps and further requirements from CJK Specially Network aspects include control features could be developed from CJK NGN FG only have “Release 1” plan : plan for future releases such as Release 2 and Release independent etc. are not clear yet Optic infrastructure based requirements would be next release (Release 2 ?) Initiate Release 2 from CJK
