It takes a village! September evaluation skates help us to put players in the division they belong Players are in full equipment from day one in September Many of our new players can’t skate! Parents of non-skaters are encouraged to join us on the ice for the first 6 weeks or so Players able to skate independently are placed on teams Teams are formed by age and ability so that a player’s needs are met Parents are always needed as convenors, trainers and coaches

What to expect Non-skaters are placed with non-skaters and called ‘rookies’ Other players are placed on ‘NHL’ teams All players receive ‘NHL’ style uniforms to keep Rookies stay together to work on their specific needs Our program follows OMHA/Hockey Canada guidelines We do not play full ice games or use referees until age 8 More info on initiation program: Programs/Coaching/LTPD/Downloads/LTPD_manual_may_2013_e.pdf

September to March It’s a long season and almost no one makes every practice Typically there is an evaluation/selection period of 6-8 weeks Teams and coaches may change during this time Coaches and trainers also receive training (reimbursed by PHA) In November rosters will be firm and a mite/tyke tournament will take place –it’s very exciting! We will take a short break at Christmas and have another tournament in February On ice season wraps up the first week of March Banquet is early April
