Layout Setup A Layout Is an arrangement of objects on a sheet of paper for plotting purposes. Can contain Viewports Title block Notes, graphics Layouts, Plotting, Printing
5

Drawing file can contain multiple layouts When first selected Default layout is 8.5 x 11 in landscape Layouts, Plotting, Printing

Inserting a Border Layouts Most contain a border and a title block It is best to insert the blocks into the layout and then save it as a template file. Layouts, Plotting, Printing

Floating Viewports When a new layout is created A single default floating viewport is created. Viewport allows you to “see” into Model Space from Layout Space. Layouts, Plotting, Printing

Floating Viewports Floating viewports Are “holes” cut into the paper in the layout tab so that the model space drawing can be seen. Are separate objects Can be Moved, copied, sized and Can overlap other viewports. Layouts, Plotting, Printing

The MVIEW Command Creating floating viewports Is like creating tiled viewports in Model space. Command: MVIEW (MV) Specify corner of viewport or [ON/OFF/Fit/Shadeplot/Lock/Object/Polygonal/Restore/Layer/2/3/4<Fit> Layouts, Plotting, Printing

The MVIEW Command <Fit> Default choice. Creates a single rectangular floating viewport that fills the entire printable area on the sheet. 2/3/4 Creates preset viewport configurations of 2, 3, or 4. ON/OFF Activate/deactivates the Model space display within a viewport. Layouts, Plotting, Printing

The MVIEW Command Lock Locks the view in one or more viewports. ZOOM and PAN are disabled. Prevents accidental resizing of a viewport after a ZOOM XP command has been used to correct scale a viewport for plotting to scale. Object Changes a closed polygon drawn in layout space into a floating viewport. Circles, ellipses, polygons and other closed shapes. Layouts, Plotting, Printing

The MVIEW Command Polygonal Draws a floating viewport outline using a polyline It can be of any closed shape (lines/arcs) Restore Converts saved viewport configurations into individual floating viewports. Layer Resets viewport layer property overrides. Layouts, Plotting, Printing
13
Working with Floating Viewports
Many drawings can be created from one drawing model. Insert viewports after Title Block is inserted Avoids conflict and overlap with view port. Layouts, Plotting, Printing
14
Working with Floating Viewports
Use Zoom XP To size the model space to the correct size. Type Zoom (enter) 1 / (scale factor ) xP Pan To position the displayed model space to the desired location. Resize view port as required. Layouts, Plotting, Printing
