1803,purchase of Louisiana from France for $15 million, doubling the size of the union
Lewis & Clark expedition- Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, planned expedition of a route West to the Pacific coast of North America. They collected plant, animal, and mineral specimens.
10 states joined the union: VT, KY, TN, OH, IN, MS, IL, AL, ME, & MO
“First Tripolitan War”- Jefferson did not want the U.S. to pay a tribute to the Barbary pirates to trade in the Mediterranean so we went to war with them
