Accurate census data are essential for the fair distribution of the country’s 435 congressional seats and for the fair allocation of government resources
Michigan is at risk of losing another seat this time
More than 15 billion federal and state program dollars were distributed to Michigan communities annually based on census data
This is particularly important for Michigan because about 42% of our state budget relies on federal funding

Persons experiencing homelessness
Persons less likely to use the Internet and others without Internet access
Persons residing in places difficult for enumerators to access, such as buildings with strict doormen, gated communities, and basement apartments
Persons residing in rural or geographically isolated areas
Persons who do not live in traditional housing

Grants of up to $5000 are available to help you get out the vote.
Your Complete Count Committee is held on the 3rd Thursday at 11am at the Center for Family Health, 536 N. Jackson St.
If you aren’t in Jackson County – go to BeCountedMI.org and click “Engage” to find your local hub.

We have nonprofits lined up to be your fiduciary.
These nonprofits are also interested in being mentors and helping new organizations grow and thrive.

Application Process
DEADLINE for application September 15, 2019
Interviews will be scheduled between September , 2019
Accepted application funding will be available when project begins
Applications will be accepted until all monies are used.

Application
The form may be filled out by hand, typed into Microsoft Word, submitted by or in person.
In addition to the application, applicants are required to meet with members of the Jackson County Be Counted Michigan 2020 Group to talk over your application.
Failure to show up to your scheduled interview will result in rejection from the application process.
If you haven’t applied for a grant before, please complete the application the best you can. If you aren’t sure about some of the answers, that’s okay. We can talk about any question when we meet.
