Getting Started You need a copy of Student Sheet 12, or to keep track of all the information on notebook paper in an organized fashion. We’ll look at three substances that are added to water and practice writing about them.

Lab Students had 5 jars with pure substances:
Copper (II) sulfate (CuSO4) Sodium chloride (NaCl) Zinc Oxide (ZnO) Sulfur (S8) Sodium Nitrate (NaNO3) 1 lab scoop of each substance was put in a test tube, and then water was added to the test tube. Test tube was shaken for at least 10 shakes. Then students made observations and wrote about the appearance and whether the material dissolved.
