CATEGORY MANAGEMENT IN SUTTON Recruitment Pack December 2015

Overview On 1st July 2015 Sutton launched its new approach to commissioning across the Peoples Directorate. A new integrated commissioning team working across both Children’s and Adults Social Care services, called the Category Management Team which became responsible for: Strategic Commissioning Market Shaping and Management Procurement Market Oversight and Quality Assurance to prevent market/provider failure Contract Management The team oversee a combined spend across all categories of approx. £80m annually.

Who are we looking for In our Category Management Team we have the following vacancies that we are now looking to fill: Senior Category Manager – Community Living and Complex Needs Category Manager – initially working across our Community Living and Complex Needs category What type of people are we looking for in our Category Manager roles: People with strong leadership skills. People who have excellent strategic commissioning experience across the whole cycle. People who are able to support and develop the team, be that via management accountability or as a team member. People who understand the bigger picture and can operate in a fast paced environment delivering on key targets. People who have experience across either the adults field.

Category Management in Sutton
The Category Management Team in Sutton is split into three integrated categories: CATEGORY 1 – including preventative services, services for carers and universal social care provision CATEGORY 2 – services enabling adults and children to remain living at home CATEGORY 3 – specialist social care provision for more complex needs including specialist accommodation based provision for adults and children The three categories are supported by a Market Systems Team who: Designing Systems and Process Manage and Maintaining Performance Management Systems Provide Technical Support on Procurement Systems Project Support to the Category Teams

Category 1 – Prevention and Universal Health and Social Care Services
This category focuses on: Stimulating and shaping the market for preventative services (including those that prevent, reduce and delay the need for statutory support) Developing and making use of community resources The prevention prospectus Leisure contracts A joint health and social care approach to prevention involving key stakeholders such as public health, Education and Leisure

Category 2 – Targeted Community Support
This category focuses on: Targeted and shorter term community-based solutions to sustain and improve people’s quality of life Helping to support resilience for individuals and families Stimulating and shaping the market for targeted services based on assessed needs Markets include personal care, CAMHS tier 2, transport, disability framework

Category 3 – Complex and longer term social care needs
This category focuses on: Complex social care needs and specialist accommodation schemes Longer term services Markets include residential and nursing care, supported living, housing with care, Looked After Children services, SEN, Foster Care
