DT YR 7 LEARNER STAGES Practical Outcomes Exceptional Advancing Secure
Excellent awareness of H&S issues—does not need to be told or reminded & encourages others to do the same . Uses tools and jigs correctly illustrating an understanding and awareness of the task in hand. Is eager to know how to replace drill bits/blades etc. and is able to consider how to use tools and jigs for other tasks Level of accuracy for practical work is very high. Pupil will quality check their own work and is prepared to redo work in order to achieve a good quality outcome Enthusiastic attitude towards D&T. Is able to work competently and confidently with little guidance. Works independently & is able to pass on their knowledge to other pupils. Asks questions to further knowledge. Advancing Good awareness of H&S issues—does not need to be told or reminded Uses tools and jigs correctly illustrating an understanding and awareness of the task in hand. Level of accuracy for practical work is very good. With encouragement pupil is able to recognise the quality of the individual practical task and may attempt to redo the work Good attitude towards D&T. Is generally able to work competently and confidently with little guidance. Usually works independently & is sometimes able to pass on their knowledge to other pupils. Secure Follows H&S procedures. Conducts her/himself safely at all times Uses tools and jigs correctly. Level of accuracy for practical work is good. Pupils have followed the making procedure and work is completed to a good level. Works well every lesson. Is generally able to work competently and fairly confidently with little guidance. Can work independently. Developing Usually follows H&S procedures but sometimes needs reminding. Can use tools and jigs correctly when shown by another person Most of the practical work has been completed the to a fairly good standard. Tries hard every lesson. Is generally able to complete all of the practical tasks with Some initial guidance. Wants to work independently as much as possible Foundation Needs to be more aware of H&S issues and ensure all workshop procedures/rules are followed. Can use tools and jigs with assistance. Most practical tasks have been completed to a reasonable standard Is able to complete the practical tasks with some guidance & support. Will usually attempt to complete the practical tasks on their own when asked.
