Nature and Scope of Collections Federal technical reports literature spans a wide range of technical and scientific topics These reports contain important information that is poorly indexed and often difficult to obtain The project focused on pre-1975 reports to avoid copyright issues

Charge Develop a collaborative project with the Center for Research Libraries to identify, digitize, archive, and provide persistent and unrestricted access to federal technical reports issued prior to 1975. Digital Archives + Print Archives

Accomplishments 17,575 page-views of the TRAIL Pilot site (7/1/07- 6/30/08) ~5000 items cataloged & in scanning queue (6/08- 12/08) Establishing collection sets in OCLC 22 participating institutions (to date) Completed an inventory of all defunct federal agencies and report series that were issued by those agencies Working with Stanford to plan user interface
