3 Key question for today……
How can eBooks help us to Deliver Knowledge into Action? Challenges and Opportunities

4 Scotland’s Digital Future
Circles of influence 2020 Vision Scotland’s Digital Future Efficiency and Productivity

5 Users We read more online journal article & book chapters than we ever did in print format - in the same time. We demand 24/7 access to content, instant gratification at a click, and look for `the answer’ rather than for a particular format, e.g. an article or monograph. We scan, flick and `power browse’ through digital content – horizontal rather than vertical use. CIBER Report 2012

6 Users (Continued) Mobile users are the fastest-growing user community. Mobile visits are information 'lite': short, non-interactive, little content per visit. 20% of UK respondents have used an eBook in the past 6 months; 30% have plans to purchase one. Bowker Global eBook monitor

7 eBook opportunities Responding to user needs and behaviours eBooks respond to horizontal information-seeking behaviour in digital age - “power browsing” across resources for specific answers rather than linear working through a book from start to finish. Increasingly “the norm”.
