ATLAS / CMS luminosity Integrated luminosity in 2012 passed 20 fb-1 last week. Fast luminosity ramp up was possible based on 2011 experience. Peak L = 7.7×1033 cm-2s-1. We expect to reach fb-1 by the end of the run.

Example: last 3 weeks Intensity B1 Intensity B2 Luminosity Energy
6
Efficiency Average fill length: 6.0 hours
Average fill length comparable to 2011. Fill length is determined mostly by MP system detecting parameters outside envelope and triggering a beam dump. Spent 36% of scheduled time with stable beams. Compared to 33% in 2011
7
Proton-Lead test and run
A test with 13 colliding p and Pb bunches was done end September with few hours of first p-Pb collisions. A 4 week long run will be made in Jan/Feb 2013. Expected beam parameters: 200 ns spacing proton and Pb beams, ~350 bunches / beam, p in ring 1 + Pb in ring 2, and vice-versa, Luminosity ~ 6x1028 cm-2s-1. ALICE p-Pb event
