4 Get to Know Ms. Stewart My experience My background
This is my 22nd year in education . I’ve taught school in Alabama, Georgia, and overseas-Abu Dhabi. I taught 1st grade -8th grade. I have 2 children…Malaysia and Nate Stewart I am from Midway, Alabama.

6 Classroom Community Rules
Our classroom rules help us get along with each other: Be respectful to yourself and others. Be responsible. Be organized and follow oral directions as given. Be on time for class. Be prepared. Keep cell phones and other technology out of site.

8 Classroom Community Procedures
Entering the classroom Come in quietly and sit in your assigned seat and place your agenda on your desk. Be sure to sharpen your pencils before class starts. Place homework on your desk if assigned. Begin on your Bell Ringer while working quietly. During class time You must remain seated. No talking during instructional time unless we are working collaboratively in groups. You can not sharpen your pencil during instructional time unless you have permission.

9 Classroom Community Procedures
During class time 4. At the end of class, you may throw away your trash while exiting the room for your next class period. 5. You have the freedom to sharpen your pencil if needed at the beginning of class before starting on your bell ringer. If your pencil breaks during class time please raise the broken pencil in the air and the teacher will allow you to sharpen it if truly needed. 6. Mrs. Osakwe and I are here to help you; therefore, if you have a question about something please ask especially if it’s about your work.

10 Classroom Community Procedures
Lining Up Please make sure the walk way near your desk is clear from clutter. By rows, move into the line quietly and without touching others. (Keep your hands, feet, and all objects to yourself) Face forward Hall Procedures---I am your restroom monitor (I will come into your bathroom if necessary. Ask your friends in 8th grade) At ALL times you are to… Walk in an orderly line. No talking, no pushing, no touching the walls, or each other.

11 Classroom Community Procedures
Restroom Break (Before homeroom, during lunch, 5th period, and Connections) DO NOT ASK ME UNLESS IT’S AN EMERGENCY ---I will travel to the restroom with you if I need to. Leaving the classroom for any other reason If the teacher has agreed for you to leave the classroom, you must sign out on the classroom log. You must write your name, the time you are leaving, where you are going, and your return time.

12 Homework Homework is given as needed.
Homework is not assigned on Wednesdays or Weekends unless there is a project due or incomplete work that needs to be submitted. If homework is assigned, it will be due the next school day.

13 Tardiness Homeroom starts at 9:00 A.M.
Running late? Check in at the school office before coming to class. DO NOT BE LATE FOR MY CLASS! You will be asked to return to your previous class or the principal for a tardy pass.

14 Writing You will expand your knowledge on constructing narratives, informational, and argumentative writings this school year.

15 Supplies Don’t bring these items
2 – 5 subject spiral notebook pencils notebook paper blue or black pens (To write final copy of essays) USB flash drive (To save typed essays)—You will keep the flash drive with you and use it as needed. colored pencils, crayons, or markers (for projects) 2 – 3 prong pocket folders (One for 1st semester & One for 2nd semester—keep at home until instructed by Ms. Stewart) plastic sheet protectors (For 1st & 2nd semester reflection portfolios—keep at home until instructed by Ms. Stewart) glue sticks 1 – shoe box (For your 3-D project---keep at home until instructed by Ms. Stewart) Don’t bring these items Electronic Devices unless instructed to do so by the teacher. There will be a Yes-green or No-red sign posted in the classroom to inform you of when to use your electronic device.
