Today we will talk about Financial Aid Financial aid is money to help pay for college or career school. Aid can come from: U.S Federal Government Your state government The college you attend Nonprofit or private organization FAFSA Free Applications for Federal Student Aid Florida Bright Futures Scholarship A Florida state scholarship based on GPA, test scores & volunteer service Florida Shines or floridashines.org Florida state government college and career website. Check FL Bright Futures here.

Money borrowed for school. Must be paid back almost always with added interest Grants Do not need to be paid back. Need based. Scholarships Can come from any person/organization. Usually given based on merit, special interest or need

10 Florida bright futures scholarship
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, funded by the state of Florida, provides scholarships based on high school academic achievement. The program has different award levels, each with its own eligibility criteria and award amounts. Awards are per credit hour.

11 Florida Bright Futures requirements
Application opens October 1st of your senior year Students have until graduation to earn community service hours and GPA required Students have until June of their graduation year to meet the test requirement Check your status at FL Academic Scholarship FL Medallion Scholarship Gold Seal Vocational Scholars A third type of scholarship but can only be used for vocational programs and certificates not 4 year college degrees. To qualify students must complete 3 years of a vocational program in high school with a 3.5 GPA in the classes.
