Figurative meaning of some characters quickly grasped. They were unwilling to come – a rejection.

4 A Second set of servants sent saying “everything is ready”…
God has done everything for us Nearness of feast is evident V.5-6 give responses: > Some paid no attention (made light of it) > Some are just too busy with this life > Some reject strongly (Matt. 23:27) Seen in Acts about the Apostles and Preachers > Seized His slaves (4:3; 5:18; 8:3) > Mistreated them (5:40; 14:5; 23:2) > Killed them (7:58; 12:2)

5 The King is Enraged The King understands He has been rejected. (Luke 10:16). What city is destroyed? Those who reject God’s invitation will be destroyed (2 Thess. 1:8-9).

6 Those invited are called unworthy (v.8)
Unworthy because they rejected invitation God now turns to everyone (v.9-10) > As many as are found > Both good and bad The wedding hall was filled.

7 A Different Aspect of Rejection (v.11-14)
The King looked over the dinner guests (v.11) Saw one not dressed in wedding clothes (v.11) Represents one who has not truly put on Christ (Gal. 3:27). The man was speechless (v.12). The King cast him out (v.13).

8 Many are called, few are chosen.
What is the state of your heart? Have you clothed yourself with Christ? Have you accepted the invitation of God?
