Instrument control – lessons learned from V20 and from personal experience at engineering beamlines
General NICOS deployed at V20: well perceived so far (flexible, reliable) How to record/save/process data and metadata (e.g. WFM data reduction: chopper settings, beam monitors): need to link with reduction and analysis software (e.g. texture example by BEER) Integrate user equipment: Flexible I/O interfaces and ‘easy’ integration option (e.g. remote control of LabView software from users) logbook function (keep pictures, screenshots, metadata, create first analysis charts; allow users to share with collaborators who are not present at experiment) Overall Integration project at V20 (ICS timing system + HW): use it for other aspects of software development…. Engineering diffraction Example scanning experiment: integrated correction in data reduction for extinction, multiple scattering, surface effect (linkage to virtual experiments by McStas for example) Sample positioning: Integrate similar function to SScanSS First very short overview of Bragg edge imaging at reactor and TOF sources Briefly recap on strain measurements (discussed last years) Then, I will show phase mapping in TRIP steels that have undergone localized phase transformation from Austenite to Martensite If time: highlight implications for textured samples Finally, short outlook what could be done in future

Data reduction software for WFM data (existing data sets from V20)
Dedicated experiments performed in Nov 2015 and March 2016 First very short overview of Bragg edge imaging at reactor and TOF sources Briefly recap on strain measurements (discussed last years) Then, I will show phase mapping in TRIP steels that have undergone localized phase transformation from Austenite to Martensite If time: highlight implications for textured samples Finally, short outlook what could be done in future

Data reduction software for WFM data (existing data sets from V20)
Dedicated experiments performed in Nov 2015and March 2016 First tool in MANTID for WFM stitching Further development needed… Next steps (resources): demonstrate quantification and fitting procedure Later: live data reduction (in BG?) How to interface with 3rd party software (also: licenses for commercial software?) Software structure similar to multiplexing? First very short overview of Bragg edge imaging at reactor and TOF sources Briefly recap on strain measurements (discussed last years) Then, I will show phase mapping in TRIP steels that have undergone localized phase transformation from Austenite to Martensite If time: highlight implications for textured samples Finally, short outlook what could be done in future
