Fig 1 Differences in admission and discharge BBS scores by discharge destination. This figure shows the interquartile scores, means, and ranges of BBS scores of subjects who were discharged to their own homes, to intermediate care (IC) and extended care (EC) facilities, and to acute hospitals. Actual values are in table 1. Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , DOI: ( /S (02) )

Fig 2 Probability of discharge to home based on admission BBS. This figure depicts the positive relation between admission BBS and probability of returning home, as well as the important role of caregiver support in discharging patients to their homes. Legend: solid line, without caregiver support; dotted line, with caregiver support. Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , DOI: ( /S (02) )

Fig 3 Discharge activity by discharge supports and destination. Discharge activity is measured by FIM scores at time of discharge. This figure shows the interquartile scores, mean scores, and range of discharge FIM scores and shows clearly that subjects with caregiver supports can have lower levels of discharge activities than those without supports. Those who return home generally have higher discharge activity scores than do those who enter facilities. Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , DOI: ( /S (02) )
