Why do you think teens engage in risky behaviors?

2. Classwork
Turn to page 130 in the book. For the entire hour today and tomorrow, you will be working independently to create Drug Awareness presentations.
You may pick which drug you would like to focus on and then research it for your presentation. You will have access to the Chromebooks for the entire hour today and tomorrow.
This is worth 40 points and will be due tomorrow at the end of class.
You will have the opportunity to present your presentations for extra credit.

3. Presentations should be no longer than 7 slides.
Presentations should include things that are listed in 2. Writing a Drug Profile on page 130.
These are things like:
Name of Drug
Common Street names
Description of drug
How it is taken
Short and long term dangers and effects
Three statistics (charts or graphs) relating to the drug

4. The Drug Awareness “Poster”
You will dedicate a slide to creating a poster, similar to the one on page 131.
This slide will have things like:
A theme that tells how drugs impact individual lives or society
A catchy slogan or message
Strong visuals that show the dangers of drug use
Key information about the harmful effects of the drug

5. Start researching the different drugs and when you have decided which drug to research, come up and tell me.
This is to make sure not everyone chooses the same drug

6. As you are working, I will be walking around to assist if needed
As you are working, I will be walking around to assist if needed. I will also be inputting grades from bellwork yesterday.
If you/your parents come to conferences tonight, I will have an updated (as of today) progress report to hand them.
This may be slightly different than the one handed to them when they enter conferences.
