The words un and une have two meanings in French. They can be used as numbers, meaning 'one'. They can also be used with the meaning of 'a/an'.

Un always goes with masculine words, whereas une goes with feminine ones.

To say 'some' or to state an unspecified amount des is used followed by the plural.

To make a word plural, you add an -s, but usually this isn't pronounced.
