3B Classroom News Week of 10-8-18 Homework From Ms. Ahl What are we
learning this week? Math: We are going to continue rounding numbers this week. We will then be moving into addition. Reading: We are going to be learning about how to use context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. Social Studies: We will be finishing up our unit about the 6 regions, and move into science. Writing: We will begin writing a fictional narrative. Grammar: We will learn about simple sentences. Important Dates: Oct. 10th: Picture Retakes Oct. 11th: Spirit Night at Raising Cane’s Oct. 12th: Eddie’s Fun Run; Spirit Night at Fort Dorchester High School Oct. 15th: PTA/SIC Meeting (2:45pm) Oct. 19th: Teacher Workday Homework Please remember to read each night for twenty minutes. learning this week? Math: We are continuing to work on addition, and will begin subtracting this week. Reading: We are finishing up our unit on context clues, and will begin learning about finding the main idea of a nonfiction text. Science: We are continuing to learn about magnetism and electricity. Writing: We are beginning a new writing process called Thinking Maps. We will be writing a personal narrative. Grammar: We will learning about plural nouns and practice writing complete sentences. Important Dates: Oct. 22nd – Red Ribbon Week Oct. 25th – Terrific Kid Ceremony Oct. 26th – Spirit Day; GATE testing Oct. 30th – Haunted Hallway Oct. 31st – Report Cards go home; Early Release Day Nov. 1st – Honor Roll Breakfast Homework Please remember to read each night for twenty minutes. learning this week? Math: We will be starting our multiplication unit. Reading: We will learn how to determine the author’s purpose for writing a text. Social Studies: We will finish up our unit on Native Americans. Writing: We will continue writing our fiction narrative. Grammar: We will be learning how and when to use quotation marks. Important Dates: Nov. 5th – Storm Make-Up Day Nov. 6th – No School – Election Day Nov. 9th – Veteran’s Day Celebration Nov. 13th – Spirit Night at Jet’s Pizza; World Kindness Day Nov. 14th – Early Release Day Homework Please remember to read each night for twenty minutes.
