2 About United Way Mission: United Way of Waco-McLennan County strengthens the community by mobilizing resources to measurably improve lives. Vision: United Way of Waco-McLennan County envisions a community where all people have the education, health, and financial stability needed to achieve their full potential. United Way of Waco-McLennan County is focused on community-based and community-led solutions. In partnership with our community, United Way identifies the most vital needs and work alongside each other to eliminate barriers to a good quality of life for all residents of McLennan County. As a United Way Workplace partner, we are essential to the Annual Workplace Campaign of the United Way of Waco-McLennan County. By leading our company’s internal fundraising effort, we are helping to improve lives by raising much-needed funds for investment in community programs and agencies. United Way raises, stewards, and invests funds to help strengthen the cornerstones of quality of life for education, health, financial stability, and safety net services. Every dollar matters and makes a difference. Each year, donors like you contribute $10 to $10,000 to help our community thrive. We prioritize each investment to create lasting change. YOUR INVESTMENTS This year, $1.2 million of the community’s dollars were invested in high-impact programs with the capacity and the purpose to change lives, not just for a day but for the long term, because of YOU. Workplace Campaigns drive the fundraising for United Way of Waco-McLennan County, you are all ambassadors of United Way…in your workplace and in our community.

4 EDUCATION This year, $336,000 were invested in 10 programs to impact the following education goals in McLennan County: OVERALL GOAL:  Children have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in school and in life. GOAL 1:  Childhood Success Children enter school ready to learn. Objectives: Increase the percentage of children ages 0-5 receiving quality childcare Increase the percentage of kindergarten ready students Increase the percentage of children achieving social-emotional developmental milestones GOAL 2:  Youth Success Youth are prepared to be successful in school, career, and life and remain engaged throughout the academic continuum. Increase percentage of students succeeding academically through cognitive development programming Increase percentage of students succeeding socially and emotionally through non-cognitive development programming GOAL 3:   Family Engagement Families are engaged in their child’s academic success and meaningfully connected to their child’s school campus. Increase number of families receiving parent education to ensure the academic success of their child Increase number of families that are meaningfully connected to their child’s school and its resources on an ongoing basis

5 HEALTH This year, $336,000 were invested in 11 programs to impact the following health goals in McLennan County: OVERALL GOAL: Individuals and families are able to improve their health and live healthy lives. GOAL 1:  Healthy Beginnings All babies are born healthy. Objectives:  Increase the percentage of women receiving health services and education Increase the percentage of women receiving quality prenatal care Decrease the rate of teen pregnancy GOAL 2:  Healthy Living Individuals have the knowledge, skills, and supports needed to make decisions that increase their overall health and wellness. Increase the percentage of individuals able to access and consume healthy foods Increase the percentage of individuals participating in physical activity opportunities in community settings Increase health services and education reaching underserved communities Increase mental health services and education reaching underserved communities

6 FINANCIAL STABILITY This year, $222,000 were invested in 9 programs to impact the following health goals in McLennan County: OVERALL GOAL:  Individuals and families are able to improve their financial stability and economic status. GOAL 1:  Financial Resiliency Individuals have the knowledge, skills, and supports needed to increase their financial stability, effectively manage their money, and advance their economic mobility. Objectives: Increase the number of individuals accessing and using low-to-no cost resources to conduct financial transactions Increase the number of individuals receiving financial education GOAL 2:  Job Development Individuals have the education and skills to obtain and retain good jobs with the potential for advancement. Increase number of individuals receiving job skills training Increase number of individuals receiving workforce development services

7 SAFETY NET SERVICES This year, $245,000 were invested in 7 programs to impact the following health goals in McLennan County: OVERALL GOAL:  Individuals and families are able to meet their essential needs in order to move out of crisis. GOAL 1:  Safety Net Services Individuals have the services and resources needed to meet their basic needs in crisis situations. Objectives: Support essential services and emergency interventions needed for: Food, clothing, and housing assistance Medical assistance Trauma care and prevention Legal services

8 Community Impact Goal Grant making is strategic, transparent, and focused on producing measurable results. Funded programs and initiatives are innovative, impactful, and responsive to the needs of McLennan County residents. Grant-making is led by a diverse, inclusive, and actively engaged committee of community members with subject matter expertise and/or lived experience. 9 Community Voice: Community Investment Council Demographics
Inclusive, High-Impact Grant-making: United Way of Waco-McLennan County’s Strategic Plan goal in Community Engagement, defined the way it would continue to authentically engage community partners, donors, organizations, experts and residents in a meaningful and inclusive way, including through a new volunteer-led, Community Investment Council grant review process. Community Investment Councils (CICs) provided grant application review and funding recommendations for the United Way of Waco-McLennan County. The CICs ensure donor contributions are invested effectively in local programs committed to high-impact outcomes.  There are four Community Investment Councils, one to align with each Impact Framework (focus area): Education, Health, Financial Stability, and Safety Net Services.  Together, these goals formed the basis of UWWMC’s new, competitive grant-making process.

10 GET CONNECTED Volunteer Portal
United Way’s GET CONNECTED volunteer portal exists to be the volunteer hub of McLennan County at Volunteerism is core to the mission of United Way. GET CONNECTED can connect you to local organizations seeking volunteers to assist with the crucial work they do in our community every day. GET CONNECTED will help connect you to meaningful volunteer experiences. Whether it’s a one-day activity or on-going team-building projects, GET CONNECTED is available to assist you through the entire process.
