3 What is ECHO® ? Project ECHO was launched in 2003 by Dr Aurora:
28,000 people with Hepatitis couldn’t Rx in rural and underserved areas of Mexico. For Health Care providers to provide specialized treatment for hepatitis C, without having to refer patients to far away specialists. Primary care providers: doctors, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and community health workers in rural and underserved areas and prisons mimicked ward rounds. Updated- Brenda

4 What is ECHO® ? Results from this experience showed that patients got consistently high-quality care from these providers and that their outcomes are as good as if they had traveled hundreds of miles to the nearest specialist ECHO project/model is a basic video conferencing technology/ platform that allows collaborative care (case-based education and training for health care workers). It allows for distance education, knowledge- on –demand Disease experts or specialist mentors connect to an audience to discuss complex cases, disseminate changes in guidelines, discuss new findings e.t.c Updated- Brenda

5 Why (Pediatric) ECHO? Enhance access to technical expertise in pediatric TB management at your “comfort” Important for continuous professional development: Improve diagnostic and management skills in IPT, GeneXpert, pediatric diagnosis and PAL – e.g. spirometry demonstrations Improved quality of patient care Improve surveillance of TB and DR TB in both adults and pediatrics Epidemiology and natural history of childhood Tuberculosis Jan 2019

Ped ECHO Spokes assessment (100 facilities assessed ) Orientation of and identification of facility ECHO focal persons Bundling of spokes –Monthly data-3GB- for reliable internet Ped TB ECHO Curriculum development (Weekly Ped ECHO Experts-each expert sharing Presentation for Zoom support prior to starting of each session Receiving of Case studies and CXRAYs from Spokes and sharing with experts Setting up of online Protest /Post test Sharing of meeting ID with all spokes( ).
