The previous training approach lacked: Focused, Multi-Dimensional and Accessible Content True Engagement (Perceived Value) Adaptive Learning Cost Effective Creation and Maintenance I think it becomes easier to “define” microlearning when we consider why it’s trending. Microlearning is associated with: Small, focused content or activities (just in time training, performance support, complete during “transition” times) Spaced practice (notifications help with this) Repetition (always available, in your pocket, multiplatform) More user data Not all of these are GOOD ideas, as with any design, it depends on your goals…but mobile makes it possible, and that’s a big reason why interest in microlearning is growing.
