Works Cited Page
2
Begin with your source page
You should have a list of your sources on a page that we are calling your “source page.” 1) Type these sources onto a word document. 2) Next arrange the sources into alphabetical order by the FIRST letter of your citation. It does not matter if it is a author’s name or a title.
3
FORMAT -Your works cited page should follow the following rules:
One inch margins Your title says ONLY: Works Cited Page No heading Header with your last name and page number Alphabetical Order Hanging Indent Double Spaced
4
Hanging Indent Once you have your sources in alphabetical order, go to EDIT, and then SELECT ALL. Then go to FORMAT, and INDENTATION. Change INDENTATION to HANGING. This means that the first line of your citation will hang over your second and third lines.
5
DO NOT…. -Number your sources -Add your own title -Place a source on your works cited page that is NOT found cited in your research paper.
6
If you have a source by the same author…
-Instead of writing the author’s name again, add dashes where the author’s name would be. It should look like this. Capote, Truman. In Cold Blood. New York: Griffin Publishing p Breakfast at Tiffany’s. New York: Griffin Publishing p
7
Before you turn in your paper…
Make sure that you check your format. I will be looking at your margins, header (not found on first page), your font, alphabetical order on works cited, that you have at least one AVL source, hanging indent, two printed paper sources, that each source is cited at least one time in your paper.
