5 Home Learning Reading - Daily reading Spelling – To be completed daily
Maths – X-table facts. Home Learning Project – Topic Homework Menu. Examples can be seen at the back of the hall.  Ways to help your child: Listen to your children read aloud and ask your child questions about what they have read. Examples of questions you can ask your child will come home in September. Make your own spelling test or children can write sentences using the given words. Support with the weekly homework- encourage children to have pride in their work and be proud of their effort. Encourage the children to use our online provisions as well where possible.

6 Pupil Organisation We will be encouraging the children to be as independent as they possibly can during the school day.  This may unsettle them at first, but please support them and help them to understand that this is part of growing up Children need to be punctual - morning work is an additional learning opportunity. Homework needs to be in on time.  Although the children will have one homework menu for the term, they are expected to do one piece every two weeks. Children who repeatedly do not complete daily homework tasks will complete them at break time. PE Kits need to be in on a Monday morning and are to go home with pupils on a Friday afternoon. Swimming kits- must be brought in weekly for the term that your pupil is allocated to swim.  Swimming is part of the National Curriculum as well as being as essential life skill.

7 Dojo We will continue to use Dojo next year…
This will allow you to see important updates about the class as well as see day to day photos of learning. We may also post sudden changes, eg to PE, the night before. We will use the Dojo points (both positive and negative) as a chance to win rewards and to keep you in the loop about your child’s day to day learning behaviours. This is an effective way of communicating with your child's class teacher however please be mindful of when you send messages and expect to receive replies.

8 Year 4 Multiplication Check
This upcoming school year, the Year 4 children will take part in the new statutory Multiplication Tables Check. The current Year 4s did the Pilot Check this year. The children will be expected to know ALL times tables up to 12x12. For this to be successful the children must really start to become confident with as many of their x tables as possible in Year 3. The test is on the computer. They have 6 seconds to answer each question. Please make use of the multiplication websites etc that your child’s teachers bring to your attention throughout the year.

9 Additional information
School dinners will no longer be free to children going in to Year 3 - it is a government incentive for KS1 children.  Dinners will need to be booked and paid for prior to receiving them. Fruit is no longer provided for snack in KS2, the children will either need to bring in their own healthy snack or some money to buy snack from the snack trolley.  Costs vary between 10p and 30p. Please ensure any containers are labelled so we can return them when they’re left on the playground!

10 Contact… If you have any questions or concerns, no matter how small, please come and talk to us. The first point of contact is always the class teacher.
