Overview Introduction Requirements Methodology Project plan Shortfalls
Mention each of the topics
3
Introduction What is gunshot detection?
It is the process of identifying whether a firearm has discharged a bullet. How can this system be used? GunPoint can be used to increase the response time of emergency services as well as police to the incident due to its nature of real-time alerts. Mention what gunshot detection is, how it will benefit the public and speak how it has been proven with shotspotter.
4
Requirements Mobile phone capable of running the GunPoint software
A server to keep track of the locations where gunshots have been identified.
5
Methodology Capture sound from the mic Extract samples from the sound
Run the GunPoint algorithm on the samples Establish the location of the mobile phone Send a notification if a gunshot is detected
6
Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 Term 4 Project Plan Gather requirements
Develop algorithm Term 1 Design and prepare prototype based on proposed algorithm Term 2 Implement and test code Term 3 Refactor code if necessary Documentation Term 4
7
Shortfalls of the system
When gunshots are fired indoors, the reverberation of the sound causes the system to be fooled due to the nature of the sound wave. Speak about what happens indoors, if the space is empty or not, materials used within the area, etc
