4 Focus on Emotional Health and Well Being

7 Focus on Attachment and Behaviour
Early patterns of attachment may affect later development by influencing the way the child manages emotion, what kind of models for behaviour they have and brain development. A child’s beliefs about themselves and adults will effect the way that they manage learning related anxiety

8 Focus on Language Dysfunction and Delay
More than 40% of Pupils with behaviour difficulties have an underlying language difficulty Pupils with dysfunctional or delayed language development can improve but never totally ‘catch up’ Receptive & / or expressive language difficulties mean they don’t understand what is said to and around them and can’t find/ don’t know the words to express themselves to their satisfaction

9 Focus on Trauma and Stress
Positive Stress All managed by the brain and hormones in the body Tolerable Stress Toxic Stress Prolonged exposure to stress hormones = Impaired brain development and functioning

10 Neuro Diversity - Invisible but real…
These are differences that are genuine and not the fault of the person They can be ‘helped’ to act appropriately Teaching style and content can make all the difference Relationship building and repair are essential
