9 August 2019 Bell Work Pick up the handout(s) at the door.
Sit in your assigned seats (the same number as yesterday) even though they are already in groups today. Take out your Syllabus and Code of Conduct. Take out your “I Am” Poem. Make sure everything listed on your materials basket is actually in the basket neatly. Do not log on to the computers. Just set them aside for now.

The Syllabus and Code of Conduct
Get into your groups. Take out your syllabus and code of conduct. You may use the highlighters in your group basket to highlight important information. Each student in your group reads one page out loud (indoor voice) to the group. If you have a group of three, split up the last page. If there is time, try to review the information. The Syllabus and Code of Conduct
On a piece of paper number from 1-30 in one vertical column. As a group, discuss the questions, find the answers in the material, and (each of you) write the letter answer (or word answer in the last part) by the number. Sharing the “I Am” Poem Take turns reading the “I Am” Poem to your group. Be sure to read your name out as the title. After each person reads his/her poem, the other members take turns either to compliment something he/she thought was interesting or well- said OR ask a question of the author. When everyone has had a turn, have the group member with the green dot collect the poems and turn them in to the correct basket on the front table.

Putting names on Class Folder
Each student in your group chooses one of the colored folders. This folder will stay here in the classroom. On the sticker, using a black marker, clearly write your name and period. Place the sticker on the front cover where you see the embossed title area. Open up the brads in the center and place the Unit 1 packet into the center, put the brads through the holes, and fold over the brads. When everyone is finished, have the group member with the yellow dot check your materials basket and return it to the proper place on the front table. The group member with the red dot collects the group’s folders and puts them in the correct bin on the back table.

Logging on to Chromebooks etc.
You are assigned the number of computer that was on your desk – that computer will always be assigned to that desk. Open up your chromebook and log in with your ID number and your birthday backwards: year, month, day. Example: for Dec. 12, 2005. Create a new password if requested. Write down the log in and password on your password form.

Logging on to Vocabulary.com
Vocabulary.com url and Codes: 1st Period: 2nd Period: 4th Period: 5th Period: 6th Period: Write down the log in and password on your password form.

Log off the chromebook and set it aside on the corner of your desk.
Write down your homework: Choose and get your outside reading book. Read, sign, and get Syllabus and Code of Conduct signed.
