Chewing through Roots: How Leukemia Invades and Disrupts the Bone Marrow Microenvironment  Owen J. Tamplin  Cell Stem Cell  Volume 22, Issue 1, Pages 5-7 (January 2018) DOI: /j.stem Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Inc. Terms and Conditions

2 Figure 1 AML Progression Disrupts Specific Regions of the Bone Marrow Microenvironment In healthy BM (1), the trabecular metaphysis is enriched with endosteal vessels, while the central marrow of the diaphysis is mostly sinusoidal vessels. With an intermediate level of AML cell infiltration (2), endosteal vessels are reduced. With more advanced AML infiltration (3), osteoblasts are also lost. Sinusoidal vessels are not reduced, but they narrow, move further from bone, and extend vascular sprouts. Cell Stem Cell  , 5-7DOI: ( /j.stem ) Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Inc. Terms and Conditions
