DRESS IN LAYERS: The weather changes every day and the classrooms in the school are different temperatures. Students are asked to dress in layers. Students should have sweatshirt, sweatpants, and a jacket. A hat and light weight gloves could also be helpful. The wind gets nasty out on the playground. 8 10

2nd Grade Information
HOMEWORK: Homework is expected to be returned the next day. If something happens that doesn’t allow you to get it turned in, please write a note in the binder explaining what happened.
BOOK ORDERS are due Wednesday, October 10th. You may place your order online also.
HALLOWEEN PARTIES: Our Party will be Wednesday , October 31 starting at 1:00. Please let us know if you would like to help. We are having our parties separate from each other.
PARTY MONEY: We have three class parties throughout the school year: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines. We are asking each student to bring in $2 per party to help pay for food and prizes. If you would like to send in a total of $6 to cover the whole year, that would be wonderful. Thank you.

READING BUDDIES: We will be having some middle school students come down twice a month on Thursdays to work on some reading skills with the second graders. Mrs. Munson’s 6th graders will work with Mrs. Hanken’s class at 11:30. Mrs. Wilson’s 8th graders will work with Mrs. Goergen’s class at 10:00.
ACCELERATED READER (AR): Second graders should read their picture book at 3 times before they take a test. For chapter books, students only need to read it once. Before they take a test, the student should review each chapter in the book with an adult.
LUNCH: Second grade lunch is at 12:35-1:05
MILK BREAK: Since lunch is so late, second graders will be very hungry. Please make sure your child has a healthy milk break snack. A sandwich is a good idea!
ABSENCE: If your child is absent, please the teacher and the elementary office. You may also call the elementary office at to leave a message on the school answering machine during late hours.
