1. Fertilizer Retail Price Analysis: Uganda
Comment: All the fertilizers were cheaper in Mbale (Eastern Uganda) and considerably high in Masaka (Central Uganda). Mbale remains the hub fertilizer distribution town as most of the imports from Kenya pass through it. However, an interesting result is that all fertilizers were considerably cheap in Kisoro despite its long distance from main supply points. This is explained by the fact that when transporting fertilizers to Kisoro district, truckers have a guaranteed backhaul of produce from farmers which significantly reduces the transport cost of fertilizer to Kisoro and hence the retail price to farmers.
