1 A digitális átalakulás és az SAP infrastruktúra
Hargitai Zsolt üzletfejlesztési igazgató Hello. I’m Michael Tabron, Product Marketing Manager for SAP Product and Solutions at SUSE and I’d like to thank you for joining me for this webinar “Digital Transformation and Your SAP Infrastructure.” IDC defines digital transformation as the continuous process by which enterprises adapt to or drive disruptive changes in their customers and markets … by leveraging digital competencies to create new business models, products, and services. This transformation is clearly a business initiative that’s intended to ensure continued success and maintain competitiveness. But of course the business depends heavily on the IT organization to take full advantage of digital technologies. Today I’m going to spend just a few minutes talking about what digital transformation is, the technologies available to you, and how the latest SAP solutions can help you to adapt your infrastructure to meet new business demands.

2 Digital technologies and customer demands drive new operating models
Available Accessible Secure Fast Consistent Increasing Customer Expectations Automated Smart Personalized Innovative Insightful Organizations must transform to be more responsive transform Digital transformation is a significant industry shift that organizational leaders in every industry can’t afford to ignore. It requires first understanding the technologies that shape our world, and then how they impact the market. Here are 10 technology trends over the last few years that drive the need for digital transformation. In all of them you see a recurring theme of fast access to more data, a better ability to gain insights and make decisions on that data, more automation and increased security. A few examples include: the growth of mobile devices providing instant access to information that’s customized and personalized for the consumer Internet of Things objects provide immediate updates on the status and locations of devices and systems Public clouds provide immediate access to IT resources. (click) But the problem that creates is that your customers and your partners now expect a similar experience with the products and services you offer. They want 24/7 access to business, and they want it fast, personalized and consistent across all of your channels whether online or in a physical location. Barriers to switching are extremely low so they can easily go to the most innovative offerings that meet their needs. As an organization you must transform to be more responsive to these expectations, or risk being left behind. Let me give you a couple of examples. Under Armour sees themselves as an innovation company, not just a sports apparel company. They analyze data to understand what athletes experience using their products, and use these insights to improve products to meet the needs of consumers. As Under Armour transforms their business operations, they expect to be able to cut supply chain times by up to 40% so they can deliver the right products to the right locations, when the customer is ready to buy. There’s a video link at the bottom of the slide if you’d like to hear this story in their own words. On the other hand, think about a company like Blockbuster Video who was slow to adapt to a market that no longer wanted to visit a store to rent and return movies. By the time they recognized that the market had shifted to subscription-based on-demand digital streaming, companies like Netflix and Amazon had differentiated themselves as the new market leaders. Under Armour video:

3 Increasing agility is critical to digital transformation
Retain customers with fast, personalized and always-on services Seize market opportunities to attract new customers Disrupt markets and stay ahead of competitors Your organization has to become more agile. You have to be able to quickly recognize and take advantage of market opportunities to generate new revenue streams, as well as sudden shifts in customer expectations. (click) You can increase customer retention with digital competencies that give you insight into customer sentiment. With this information you want to deliver cross-channel services that are fast, always available and uniquely tailored that that customers interests and preferences. Greater market insight and faster product or service delivery helps you identify market opportunities to attract new customers. And certainly if you’re first to recognize market shifts, you have the advantage over your competitors in becoming truly disruptive in your industry.

4 Key IT process and technology changes enable greater agility
Streamline IT services for faster delivery and better quality. Improve deployment times. Innovation always open So as an IT leader, you have to decide how to adapt not only your infrastructure, but also adapt your processes to be more agile. (click) Many organizations are moving toward a DevOps model to streamline IT services for faster delivery and better quality. Software developers and IT operations personnel working together provide high-quality software fast, frequently and reliably. With faster release cycles, the business can be more responsive to changing customer needs. A Software-Defined Infrastructure improves deployment times by running workloads on the most efficient resources for that application, in the data center or the cloud, rather than building a set of resources specifically for the application. The diagram you see a the bottom shows the SUSE solution stack for a software-defined infrastructure that I’ll cover in more detail in the next webinar. There are benefits to leveraging open source solutions to help you meet the demands of the digital economy. First you get better quality and security from a broad community of individuals participating in the development and testing of the code in more unique environments. Also, costs are typically lower since there are no license fees. Open source solutions are available for “free”, but most organizations do not want to staff a team to maintain and update the software themselves. Instead they choose to pay for support subscriptions. And finally, if you build your infrastructure on top of open Source solutions that stay true to the open APIs and interfaces then you have the flexibility to move to another solution with “less pain” because any work you did to integrate should work with any other distribution.

5 Streamline operations with SAP S/4HANA
Traditional SAP Environment Disconnected applications Multiple operating environments Multiple databases Common SAP HANA database Common Fiori interface Linux only SAP Digital Core SAP S/4HANA ERP SCM BPM CRM SAP HANA Linux SAP NetWeaver ERP SCM BPM CRM Windows / Oracle Linux / DB2 Windows / SQL UNIX / Oracle SAP Business Warehouse SAP’s digital transformation strategy is built on SAP S/4HANA. I think the best way to understand how this increases agility to compare it to the traditional SAP R/3 environment you see here. (click) There are various NetWeaver applications feeding data into BW for analytics and reporting. Note that each application has it’s own UI and no awareness of information available to the other applications. Each application could be on any of a number of operating environments and (click) relational databases. This picture would be even more complex if I included the additional data mart required to extract and run analytics. Now compare this to the SAP S/4HANA environment. SAP HANA is THE single repository for application data instead of relational databases for each app, plus a data warehouse and data marts for analytics. Because it’s a columnar, in-memory database with compression it’s inherently faster, reduces storage volumes, and is easier to work with, but looks no different than a relational database to applications. The applications all run on a common UI called “Fiori” and note that all applications have access to transactional and analytics data information and deposited by other applications. (click) The entire infrastructure runs on a single OS, Linux, for speed of open innovation. (click) The one area you get more options is in deployment, where you can implement SAP systems on-premise, in the cloud or a hybrid.

(click) SUSE has engineers dedicated to joint development and testing with SAP engineers in the SAP LinuxLab in Walldorf, Germany. (click) SAP uses SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as a reference development platform for their applications, and they use SUSE products internally for their own operations. (click) SUSE and SAP are also collaborating in the Cloud Foundry to define industry standards for cloud computing and platform as a service. (click) SAP HANA was built on SLES and for a couple of years was the only OS that SAP supported. We estimate that about 90% of all SAP HANA deployments, both appliances and TDI, are built on SUSE Linux. (click) A little over 3 years ago we started working with SAP and IBM to deliver SAP HANA on Power Systems, and over the last 2 years IBM has seen over 1000 customers deploy SAP HANA – all on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications. (click) It’s no wonder that roughly 70% of all SAP application deployments on Linux are on SUSE Linux, which is the strategic platform for SAP S/4HANA and all of the other applications you see here. (click) SUSE is also far and way the leader in SAP HANA benchmarks. SUSE doesn’t perform benchmark testing. SUSE’s hardware and cloud partners run benchmark testing on their systems and consistently choose SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to get the best results. (click twice)

7 SUSE Software-Defined Infrastructure and Application Delivery Approach
SUSE Manager SUSE OpenStack Cloud Monitoring Infrastructure & Lifecycle Management Application Delivery Container Management SUSE CaaS Platform Platform as a Service SUSE Cloud Application Platform Physical Infrastructure: Server, Switches, Storage Public Cloud SUSE Cloud Service Provider Program Storage SUSE Enterprise Storage Networking SDN and NFV Compute Virtual Machine & Container Operating System SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Private Cloud / IaaS SUSE OpenStack Cloud Software-Defined Infrastructure Let’s start with a high-level view of the solutions SUSE offers for SAP environments by looking at SUSE’s concept for a Software-Defined Infrastructure to enable efficient application delivery for digital transformation . (click) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server supports a wide range of operating environments including multiple open source and proprietary x86-64 and IBM hypervisors. With a software defined infrastructure we provide orchestration of the compute, storage and network infrastructure with SUSE OpenStack Cloud, SUSE Enterprise Storage, and open source as well as proprietary networking solutions. The SUSE Cloud Service Provider Program enables on-demand use of SUSE software from major cloud providers. At the Application Delivery layer we have a container management solution so you can create and deploy applications that can run across private data centers and public clouds. We also have a Cloud Foundry-certified Platform-as-a-Service with pre-defined services so that developers can quickly create and deploy new business services. And we provide infrastructure and lifecycle management tools to ensure your SAP operations meet compliance and security requirements, as well as tools that automate and simplify rolling out new capabilities in the cloud, with containers and Cloud Foundry. Keep in mind that all of the SUSE solutions adhere to the open source APIs so you’re not locked into running only a SUSE software stack. Now let’s look at where SUSE as a Global Partner and SAP have collaborated, resulting in having an SAP validated or certified offering, or where SAP is actually running on SUSE software: (click) SLES is a reference development platform for SAP software development, and SAP runs applications on it internally. (click) SUSE delivered the first open source virtualization solution for SAP environments, and SAP HANA Express VMs are built on SLES (click) SAP Cloud Platform is built on SUSE OpenStack Cloud and SUSE Enterprise Storage (click) SUSE has collaborated with SAP and public cloud service providers to deliver a consistent software deployment and management experience on premise and in the cloud (click) SUSE Manager is integrated with SUSE’s SAP software installation wizard and packages making it easier to configure and maintain the SAP application and database systems (click) SUSE CaaS Platform is certified for SAP applications (click) And as I mentioned earlier SUSE and SAP are collaborating in the Cloud Foundry to define industry standards for cloud computing and platform as a service

8 Build a reliable and secure foundation
Automate SAP system failover and recovery with built-in High Availability and Disaster Recovery Secure SAP HANA systems with a firewall Secure remote storage volumes with enhanced encryption management For over 7 years SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications has included a full high availability solution, to more easily install, configure and manage clustered SAP application systems. It also supports failover to back-up systems, including a way that SUSE developed to automate the fail-over and recovery of SAP HANA in-memory data, reducing reduce recovery time from hours to minutes for large data sets. We have best practices for four different SAP HANA failover scenarios. (click) The SAP HANA Firewall automates the process of installing and configuring the additional network zones required to create a secure SAP HANA system. If you don’t want to use the automated set-up, there is an installation wizard that provides guided configuration with recommended options. (click) A built-in remote key server stores encryption keys of the SAP filesystem or HANA data storage volumes on a landscape of hundreds or thousands of servers. Each one communicates with the key server we provide to fetch a key or certificate to unlock the volumes automatically. It supports the Key Management Interoperability Protocol standard if you prefer to use a third-party key server.

9 Deploy SAP systems quickly to adapt to new requirements

(click) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications includes configuration and tuning packages and an Installation Wizard that leverages them to install the entire SAP software stack with high availability. This can reduce the installation time from several days to several hours. (click) Implementing a private cloud for SAP services is an option if you want fast deployment and you want to maintain total control of the infrastructure and data. Combining SUSE OpenStack Cloud with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications gives you rapid deployment of SAP systems with the flexibility to provide self-service access to applications. (click) And if your strategy includes development or deployment of services in the public cloud, SUSE has you covered there as well. We’ve worked with major cloud service providers like Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft to deliver pre-built, optimized images that are exactly the same as an on-premise deployment. This means that if you decide to change cloud service providers, you have the flexibility to make that switch with minimal effort.

10 Monitor and maintain your SAP systems
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications gives you direct access to Level 3 engineering support SUSE Linux Enterprise Live Patching enables Linux security updates without interruption SUSE Manager automates inventory, configuration and patch management Now let’s talk about 3 capabilities that SUSE offers to help you monitor and maintain your SAP systems.
