1 Create a Business Project
Task You and others in the class will be creating a realistic, appropriate business proposal that will represent the various business organizations that exist in society today. Procedures and Requirements Choose your group, which should range from one to two based on your business organization: sole proprietor (1) or partnership (2) Create a Power Point to introduce your company’s business plan (should be a visual representation of the business plan). Power Point Slides – One for each area of the business plan You may use more than one slide for each category Each slide should have at least one picture

2 Business Plan and Proposal
General Company Description List the name of your business Hours of operation (when will you be open?) Create a slogan of your company (i.e. Publix “where shopping is a pleasure”, Burger King “Have it your way”, Nike’s “Just do it”) that will be a catchy phrase to help customers remember your business. Resources: List the owner’s names What will be your business type: sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation

3 Products and Services Describe the type of business you are planning (service, restaurant, multimedia production, wedding planner, etc.), What business will you be in, what do you do (provide a service, fix computers, sell a product, build houses?) Describe the products/services you will provide. Create a sample list of price points for your products or services (you may need to research existing companies).

4 Advertising Tools Consider logos used by other companies that are easily recognizable to you. For instance, the Nike Swoosh, Apple’s computer logo, Design a business logo using Publisher, or you may draw your logo and take a picture of it and transfer it to your Power Point. This logo will be a symbol for your customers to recognize your business.

5 Advertising Tools Use the Publisher business card wizard to create business cards for each of you. (display in your power point). Include the following: Position title Full name Business address Phone number address (made up) Business website address (make it up) Logo for your business

6 Advertising Tools Design a full-page 8 ½ x 11 flyer/poster in Microsoft Publisher. Include: Business Name Slogan Mission Statement Location Logo

7 Business Philosophy Create a mission statement (a formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company or organization). Sample Mission Statements McDonalds - "To provide the fast food customer food prepared in the same high-quality manner world-wide that is tasty, reasonably-priced & delivered consistently in a low-key décor and friendly atmosphere." Courtyard by Marriott - "To provide economy and quality minded travelers with a premier, moderate priced lodging facility which is consistently perceived as clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and attractive, staffed by friendly, attentive and efficient people" What image do you want to project? How do you want customers to view your business? Describe the benefits of your company. That is, what will your products/services provide for the customer to make their life better? What factors will give you competitive advantages or disadvantages? (i.e. level of quality or unique features) Why do you believe your business concept will work?

8 Target Market/Customers
What region will you serve (i.e. city/state)? Describe your targeted customers, their characteristics, and their geographic locations, otherwise known as their demographics. Age range Gender Location Income level/Social class

9 Competition Who are your competitors?
What are your competitor’s greatest strengths (i.e. brand recognition, financial resources, location, good customer service, distribution network, etc. )? What are their greatest weaknesses (i.e. poor location, poor management, poor customer service, etc.)? How is your company’s approach to business going to be different from other businesses in the same industry; why will customers buy from you over your competition?

10 Organizational Costs and Financing
Will you run your business out of an office/business space or out of your home? List a sample cost of renting office space to run your business. List capital items necessary to run your business (ex. Oven for a bakery). List a sample of the cost to purchasing/rent this equipment. How will you advertise (ex. Google ad Words) List the cost of advertising to promote your business. Labor - list the employees necessary to run your business and their specific positions. Position title Summary of job Compensation (Pay, hourly, monthly, salary?) List of qualifications necessary to do the job Education required
