Urban Oasis Team Members: Afolabi Ibitoye Grzegorz Kosieradzki Jude Rene Vallon School: New York City College of Technology

2 Urban Oasis is a solar powered, environmentally friendly, strong & durable rain catching canopy furniture for eco- conscious city residents, urbanites and business owners. Why they care: Reduce anthropogenic impact, save money, and reduce reliance on natural resources. Total In Person Video Chat Phone 12 10 2

3 Value Propositions Sustainability
Increased foot traffic for business owners Environmentally efficient Customizable Saves $ on electricity bills & solar tax benefits Aesthetically pleasing Self irrigation for organic / vegetable home garden - Decreases water run-off - Greener environments

4 Customer Segments Green Enthusiasts – Residential Properties
Storefront Small Businesses Restaurants outdoor gardens, etc. Landlord / Manager of NYC city buildings (Aesthetics & Property value) 50+ young at heart

5 Lessons Learned From the interviews conducted, we were able to deduce the following: Maintenance cost & frequency. Space to assembly a canopy structure also can influence decisions. “maybe we can add a speaker for music, are the batteries expensive?”. . . Alyson “does it have a table” Khalil Post-Mortem (Lessons Learned): Parents are more likely to be influenced by their kids to invest in a canopy for their backyards. Invest: Developing countries

6 What’s Next? A NOT-YET on the Wooden Canopy (short life span, too heavy, maintenance) Fabric and Light Metal Structure Canopy “reverse umbrella”. All Recycled Metal Canopy – adaptable to all weather (next to develop)

7 Funding Requests Requested Item/Service Amount ($) Justification
Solar Panels (2) To be added to new designs Materials 300 Purchase of Canvas and Metal Sheets Battery (car/rechargeable) 60 (2) To be used to conserve energy for new structures Solar Controller 40 (2) Regulate solar generation to prevent overcharge and damage to batteries and connected components. Solar Decathlon (Design Challenge Registration) 100 Presentation of canopy during sustainability competition. 2019 Solar Decathlon (Denver) 200 Hotel stay for 4 days REV campus challenge, Urban X, Meetup Transportation cost to location Pipes, copper wires, hose & screws Transferring water & energy distribution Duplex Socket USB 3.6A 50.02 (2) Outlet for charging Total

8 Conclusion How often the canopy furniture’s are to be maintained as well as any special skill needed for solar components are prevailing concerns.
