1 Development Planning Now that you have completed all your designing you need to write up a ‘development plan’. This can be in the form of a mind map or a table completed in ‘Word’ or ‘Excel’. You need to follow the instructions on the next four slides.

2 What questions should I ask myself before making the prototype?
Where will I look for inspiration when choosing materials? How will I do this? How much will the raw materials cost me? What time constrains do I have when buying all the raw materials? What type of techniques could I look at? How will I evaluate the samples? Where will I get the information on the pattern development? How will I know if the pattern will work? What could I do to make sure I do not waste materials? What environmental issues should I consider when choosing raw materials?

6 Writing a production plan of your product during the making stages
The next slide details what information you will need to show on your production plan. Why should you do this? You will be given marks during your coursework for the following: - showing ‘health and safety’ - showing ‘quality control’ - showing an understanding of industrial processes - Making any feedback suggestions - showing ‘timing and planning’ You can locate the H&S information from ‘student read’ or use your own initiative. Again, when thinking about how you controlled the quality of each task, write this down. Using the help sheets for Industrial Processes linked to Textiles, think about how industry would complete the job you have just written about.

7 Once you begin to develop and make your product you will need to try and document what you are going to do and why. There are several ways this information could be written up. Below is a ‘diary of making’ planning sheet Materials needed Job to be completed Health & Safety Quality Control How industry would do this Feedback and suggested modifications First lot of materials you need First job you will carry out What safety will you carry out How to make sure the quality of the job is going to be good? Can you find this out-sheets are on ‘student read’ Could you make some changes to make the job produce a better outcome, or are there any flaws in the construction method, give feedback?
