1 Near Field Probe Configuration
PNA Near Field Probe Configuration is recommended for smaller Near Field Scanner. This system has a limitation of the RF cable length of the RF source and the receiving channel path due to the power budget. Connection : Source out feeds to PIN switch input while the scanning probe connects to Receiver cannel #1 to PNA Receiver A in. Drop in for 8720’s 28 September 2019

2 Large Near Field Probe Configuration
Large Near Field Probe Configuration consists of a remote external source (i.e. PSG) and allows longer RF cable length per system requirement. Utilizing the source frequency list and direct trigger signals between the PNA and source give a best possible measurement speed. The system measurement speed is often determined by the remote source which is the slowest resource in the system. This could be enhanced with faster source or second PNA as the remote source. 28 September 2019

3 Small Scale Indoor Compact Range
Small scale, lowest cost, Compact Range, as shown on this slide uses power amplifiers compensate the RF path loss instead of using remote source. Signal is bounced off a reflector in order to get proper wave front beam formation in the far field. A directional coupler is used to sample a reference signal. 28 September 2019

4 Indoor Compact Range Configuration
Large Indoor Compact Range: Large Compact Range with huge range and the power amplifiers are not able to compensate the RF path loss. The remote source source is being used in this configuration. 83020A GHz (xx-xx dBm P 1dB) with a gain of xx dB min. NF= x-xx dB 83017A GHz (15-18 dBm P 1 dB) with a gain of 25 min. NF= 8-13 dB Opt H11 typical RF, LO output characteristics: LO out: 1.7 – 20 GHz (-7 dBm to –16 dBm) RF out: 1.7 – 20 GHz (0 to –12 dBm depending on the E836X B model number) 28 September 2019

5 Outdoor Far Field Configuration
This configuration is similar to an indoor compact range with the following exceptions. Distance between Xmit and Rcv are greater and this configuration used direct illumination. 58503A Smart Clock used to derive 10Mhz time base. (Symmetricom.com) 28 September 2019

6 Dual PNA Far Field Configuration
PNA Near Field Probe Drop in for 8720’s 28 September 2019

7 Quasi-monostatic RCS Configuration
PNA Near Field Probe Drop in for 8720’s 28 September 2019

8 PNA Performance compared to 85301B
4-6 ms listed as step speed ? It should be the handshake speed of the PNA and PSG since it is monitoring the trig out signal of the PNA line to make this measurements. 28 September 2019

9 Customer Demo Configuration
RF power budgets must be determined and will be based on the distance, frequency, and cable type. When configuring a sub-system care must be taken to not overdrive the PNA receivers. Performance specifications can be derived from this configuration. Step attenuator is used to determine linearity and sensitivity. Load is used to check Isolation. Turn-Key solutions available from DATS, KSO, and Antenna Channel Partners. 28 September 2019
